Survey software comparison: SurveyMonkey, Google Forms, Typeform, Jotform and 6 other online survey tools, with prices checked in October 2026.

Online survey software handles three tasks: writing the questions, sending the survey by link, email or QR code, then reading the answers in charts and exports. The ten tools selected here range from a free form builder to a customer experience platform sold on quote. For each one, you will find what the software does, who it suits, its limitations and its published price, read on the vendor's site in October 2026. Then come a comparison table, thirteen other names worth knowing and the points to check before you trust a provider with your responses.
A questionnaire looks lightweight: a few questions, a link, responses coming in. Yet as soon as it asks for a name, an email address or a department, it collects personal data, and some questions fall into a more protected category. The CNIL, France's data protection authority, lists political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership and health data among sensitive data. The European regulation forbids collecting them, with exceptions, including the person's express consent: an active, explicit, free, specific and informed step. Before you launch a workplace climate survey or a questionnaire for patients, reread your questions one by one.
The word "anonymous" calls for the same care. For the CNIL, anonymization makes any identification impossible in practice, and irreversibly so. Pseudonymization, on the other hand, replaces the name with an alias or a number: the data stays personal and the operation can be reversed. Several tools in this ranking let you choose the collection mode. Evalandgo offers anonymous collection or collection with respondent tracking, and LimeSurvey announces anonymous surveys. If your tool knows who answered, think twice before writing "anonymous" in the invitation.
One last point: where the responses are hosted. Vendors do not all say as much. Jotform lets you store data in Germany, Tally says it is hosted in Europe, LimeSurvey lets you choose the hosting region, Evalandgo hosts data in France, on HDS-certified servers (certified health data hosting) from the PRO + plan, and SurveyMonkey offers a data center in the European Union on its Enterprise plan. Read these terms before running a recurring survey: the history of your responses will build up with the vendor you choose.
The rank reflects the tool's standing in surveys and polls, then four criteria applied to what each vendor writes on its own homepage, feature and pricing pages. These pages were read in October 2026, without subscribing to a paid plan, without sending a real questionnaire campaign and without any commercial agreement with a ranked vendor.
1. Collection. Question types, conditional logic, templates, and distribution modes: link, email with reminders, QR code, embedding on a site, offline collection.
2. Reading the results. Real-time reports, cross-tabulations, analysis of open-ended answers, export formats (Excel, PDF, CSV, SPSS).
3. What happens to the data. Announced hosting location, compliance with the GDPR (the EU General Data Protection Regulation), possible anonymous collection.
4. A readable price. Free plan, prices published in euros, and what drives the bill up: number of responses, users or emails.
The user counts, review scores and awards these sites display were not carried over: none of them can be checked from the outside.
SurveyMonkey generates a survey or a form from a simple prompt, or starts from more than 500 expert-designed templates. Its library holds more than 1,800 ready-to-use questions. A survey can become a scored quiz, include an NPS question (Net Promoter Score, the likelihood-to-recommend index) calculated automatically, or collect payments through Stripe or PayPal.
For analysis, the vendor relies on AI and connected data to spot trends. Team plans add multi-survey analysis, thematic analysis and statistical significance, then cross-tab analysis at the Premium level. Finally, SurveyMonkey offers a global audience panel to survey people who are not among your contacts.
Best for: teams running customer satisfaction surveys, employee engagement surveys or market research, use cases for which the site offers dedicated templates.
Strengths: AI creation and a question bank; 57 languages supported to automatically translate part of a survey; white-label surveys on the research.net domain with the Team Premium plan.
Limitations: team subscriptions require at least 3 users; the free subscription caps surveys at 10 questions; phone support on the Team Premium plan is in English only.
Pricing: according to the French pricing page (checked on October 10, 2026), Team Advantage and Team Premium are billed per user per month, from 3 users and billed annually, and each response beyond the plan's limit is billed on top. The amount depends on the visitor's country: price varies by visitor country, to be checked from France. A free Basic subscription exists.

Google Forms is the online form and survey tool of Google Workspace. Its overview page highlights predefined templates, custom questionnaires and question sequences, a form in your brand colors and responses collected on any device.
On the results side, Google announces response visualization, deeper insights and collaborative analysis of results. The same page stresses security by default and encryption of content in transit and at rest.
Best for: companies using Google Workspace, whose plans page places Forms among its productivity and collaboration tools.
Strengths: predefined templates and question sequences; collection on any device; shared analysis of results between colleagues.
Limitations: the overview page details neither question types nor export formats; Google publishes no price specific to Forms, which is presented within the Google Workspace plans; the Starter, Standard and Plus plans stop at 300 users.
Pricing: on the Google Workspace plans page (price checked on October 10, 2026), Business Starter is shown at €6.80 excl. VAT per user per month with a one-year commitment (€8.10 excl. VAT with no commitment), excluding launch offers (up to 50% off the first 3 months for new customers).

Typeform builds forms whose conversational logic adapts to each answer. Respondents can reply by video or audio, and AI adds follow-up questions based on what they write. Analysis covers qualitative and quantitative data: themes and sentiment of open-ended answers, respondent comparison, drop-off rate.
The vendor extends the form with two building blocks flagged as new. Growth Flow segments contacts, enriches lead records and sends personalized follow-ups. Research Flow runs AI-moderated interviews, by text, video or voice, then analyzes the results. Typeform announces more than 300 integrations, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Google Sheets, Stripe and Calendly.
Best for: marketing and sales teams qualifying leads, product teams collecting feedback and recruiting teams, three use cases the vendor describes.
Strengths: more than 3,000 templates; thematic and sentiment analysis of free-text answers; a free plan to get started.
Limitations: the site has no French version; each plan includes a monthly response volume, only 100 on Basic; the Contacts & Automations option is not available on the Free and Basic plans.
Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site, with a free plan and a discount announced for annual payment.

Jotform is a drag-and-drop form builder used for surveys and polls, and also for registrations, applications, orders and payments. It offers more than 20,000 templates, conversational forms that ask one question per page, electronic signatures and conversion of submissions into PDF documents.
Responses flow automatically to more than 150 integrations: email marketing tools, spreadsheets, CRMs (customer relationship management software), cloud storage. The free Jotform Mobile app collects responses offline and syncs them once the connection is back.
Best for: organizations that combine surveys and payments, including a nonprofit's recurring donations.
Strengths: European data centers, with storage possible in Germany; offline forms; 50% off the Bronze, Argent (Silver) and Or (Gold) plans for nonprofits and education.
Limitations: the free plan is limited to 5 forms and 100 submissions per month, with the Jotform logo; the site focuses on collection and payments, and presents analysis as visual reports, with no mention of cross-tabulations.
Pricing: on the French pricing page (price checked on October 10, 2026), Bronze is shown at €34 per month, Argent at €39 and Or at €99, billed annually, VAT treatment not stated. The page also offers monthly payment, with the annual commitment announced as up to 20% cheaper. The Débutant (Starter) plan is free.

Qualtrics presents itself as the leader in experience management. Its XM platform (experience management) turns feedback from several channels into insights and recommendations, for customers, employees and prospects.
The offer is split into three suites: Customer Experience, Employee Experience and Strategy & Research. The features described include surveys with adaptive follow-up questions, AI text analysis, synthetic audiences based on LLMs (large language models) to test a message before launch, and analysis of contact center calls.
Best for: customer experience and contact center managers, and multi-site networks (hospitals, restaurants, hotels, retail) that the pricing page lists among its targets.
Strengths: omnichannel listening that brings together online reviews, calls, chats and surveys; analysis of structured and unstructured data; compliance, governance and security solutions announced as ready to use.
Limitations: no published price; pricing depends on the number of interactions; voice of the customer solutions can only be bought with a Customer Experience product or suite.
Pricing: on quote, with the pricing page inviting you to request pricing per suite.

Tally works like a text document: you type your questions on the page and insert blocks, the way you would in Notion. The free plan includes unlimited forms and responses, as long as usage stays within the vendor's fair use rules.
The free tier already covers conditional logic, calculations, hidden fields, payments through Stripe, signatures and file uploads up to 10 MB. Tally connects to Notion, Slack, Airtable, Google Sheets, Zapier or Make, and offers a Claude connector as well as an MCP server to create, edit and analyze forms from an AI.
Best for: creators and product, marketing or HR teams who want to collect responses with no cap and no budget.
Strengths: hosting in Europe, no tracking cookies, data encrypted in transit and at rest; claimed GDPR compliance; unlimited forms and responses for free.
Limitations: the site has no French version; removing Tally branding, custom domains and drop-off analysis are reserved for paid plans; free file uploads stop at 10 MB per file.
Pricing: free plan; paid Pro and Business plans, billed monthly or annually with two months free.

Evalandgo creates online questionnaires, surveys, quizzes, multiple-choice tests and votes. A questionnaire can be generated by AI, or from a .docx, .pdf or .txt file. The Mode Live feature runs live quizzes and polls during a meeting or a training session, with up to 200 participants at the same time.
Distribution goes through a link, a QR Code, an embed code, social networks or an email sending platform with reminders. Reports are built to measure, with cross-tabulations and comparative analyses, and export to Word, PDF, Excel or PowerPoint.
Best for: training providers assessing their trainees as part of Qualiopi (France's quality certification for training providers), healthcare facilities running patient surveys, and HR departments.
Strengths: a French tool, data hosted in France, on HDS-certified servers from the PRO + plan; questionnaires compliant with the RGAA, France's digital accessibility standard; integration with Moodle and other training platforms.
Limitations: the Free plan caps questionnaires at 25 responses and 10 questions; Mode Live is no longer included after the 14-day trial; the PRO and PRO + plans include a single user.
Pricing: according to the pricing page (price checked on October 10, 2026), PRO costs €25 excl. VAT per month billed annually, or €300 excl. VAT per year, or €35 excl. VAT monthly; PRO + comes to €39 excl. VAT per month billed annually or €49 excl. VAT monthly.

Drag'n Survey splits the work into three steps. You build the questionnaire by drag and drop, from scratch or from a template and a question bank. You distribute it by web link, email campaign or embedding on your site. Results arrive in real time in automatically generated reports, which you share through a password-protected link or export to Excel and PDF.
The built-in AI processes free-text comments: a keyword cloud and a satisfaction level based on a positive or negative index. A participant panel in France and worldwide also lets you survey an audience selected on many criteria.
Best for: companies that want to start without paying, evaluate training sessions or run market research.
Strengths: a free-forever plan, with an unlimited number of questionnaires; support reachable by email and phone Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; hosting on HDS-certified servers on the PREMIUM plan.
Limitations: the free plan stops at 20 questions, 3 pages and 200 respondents per questionnaire; branching logic requires the PLUS plan; NPS questions, multilingual questionnaires and payments through Stripe are reserved for PREMIUM.

LimeSurvey targets students, professional researchers and companies. The vendor gives access to more than 800 survey templates, with logic and branching, images and videos in questions, multilingual surveys and more than 80 supported languages.

Best for: higher education, research institutes, healthcare and the public sector, sectors the pricing page cites among its adopters.
Strengths: choice of hosting region (EU, United States and others); an open source version to install on your servers; accessibility to WCAG 2.2 level AA, the international web accessibility standard.
Limitations: the Basic plan is limited to 1 admin user and 1,000 responses per month; installing and updating plugins incurs extra fees; team collaboration and AI in beta are announced as coming soon.

These amounts are shown including VAT, at the rate of the country the page is viewed from: confirm with the vendor the amount incl. VAT for France.

SurveySparrow presents itself as a unified voice of the customer platform. It collects feedback by email, social networks, WhatsApp, QR code or embedding on a site, with surveys in dialogue mode, in the tone of a conversation. An offline survey app also collects responses with no internet connection.
SpotChecks gathers targeted micro-feedback on websites and mobile apps. The Wings suite of AI-based tools helps build surveys and reply to reviews, and CogniVue draws insights from large volumes of data. The platform also manages online reviews on more than 100 platforms and opens tickets to handle reported issues.
Best for: customer experience teams tracking NPS, CSAT (customer satisfaction score) and CES (customer effort score), and HR departments running 360-degree reviews.
Strengths: connection to more than 2,000 platforms; white-label surveys on a custom domain; visual workflows that trigger actions when responses come in.

1. The collection mode, anonymous or named. Find out whether the tool offers distribution through a link with no identification, alongside email sending that tracks each respondent. The choice is made questionnaire by questionnaire, and it determines what you can promise the people you survey.
2. The cap that will push the bill up. Depending on the vendor, the limit applies to responses per month, per year or per questionnaire, to users or to sending emails. At SurveyMonkey, each response beyond the limit is paid per unit. Estimate your annual volume before comparing prices.
3. Hosting, especially for health questions. If you survey patients or employees about their health, ask where the responses are stored and whether the host is HDS certified. Evalandgo announces it on the PRO + plan, Drag'n Survey on the PREMIUM plan.
4. Getting your data out. Check the export formats for raw responses (CSV, Excel, SPSS), not only for charts. This matters on the day you switch tools, or when a statistician needs to rework your results.
5. What disappears after the trial. Several free trials open features that the free plan then removes: Evalandgo's Mode Live, the Enterprise offer features at SurveySparrow. Note what you use during the trial and find it again in the plan you are aiming for.
This comparison relies on what vendors publish. We sent no questionnaire to a real panel, measured no response rate and did not compare report quality on the same dataset.
The reading was done in October 2026, on the vendors' public pages. Some pricing pages display their amounts through scripts or by visitor country, and some prices could not be read in euros on a French page: the price column says so, without guessing.
Your survey matters more than the rank. An end-of-training quiz, an annual barometer of a thousand employees and a patient questionnaire do not call for the same tool. If the statistical analysis of your results is beyond your team, our selection of the best data analytics agencies in France can complement the software.
Prices, free plan limits and AI features change often in this category: we will reread these reviews at each revision of the page.
Survey software questions people you can already reach: your customers, your employees, the participants of a training session or the members of a panel. It measures their satisfaction, surfaces the themes in their comments and helps you decide. It does not bring you the buyer who does not know you yet and who is looking for a solution on Google or asking an AI like ChatGPT.
The open-ended answers in your surveys are still good raw material: they hold your customers' own words, their doubts and the questions they asked themselves before buying. Those are ready-made topics for pages that answer your future customers' searches.
Sorank automates this visibility work: the software writes articles designed for Google and for AI assistants, earns backlinks and fixes your site's technical errors. Its mention tracking flags, query after query, the moment an AI cites your brand. To find out what it would produce for your company, book a call.
Three profiles, three starting points. A company that regularly surveys its customers and employees, with AI analysis and an external panel, will find at SurveyMonkey templates by use case, a bank of more than 1,800 questions and a global audience panel. A training provider or a healthcare organization that wants a French tool, data in France and live quizzes will look at Eval&GO first. A small team that wants unlimited forms and responses with no budget will start with Tally.
Before you sign, run a real test questionnaire with your own questions, and open the response export. You will see whether the tool collects what you need, and whether your results can follow you elsewhere.
Tally offers unlimited forms and responses for free, as long as usage respects its fair use rules. Drag'n Survey has a free-forever plan, limited to 200 respondents and 20 questions per questionnaire. LimeSurvey also exists as an open source version, to install on your own servers.
For the CNIL, France's data protection authority, data is anonymous when any identification becomes impossible, irreversibly. If the tool only replaces the name with an alias or a number, that is pseudonymization and the data remains personal. If you announce an anonymous survey, choose a collection mode with no respondent tracking, such as the one Evalandgo offers.
Health data is part of sensitive data: according to the CNIL, collecting it is forbidden except in certain cases, including the person's express consent. Also check where the responses are hosted. Evalandgo announces HDS-certified servers (certified health data hosting) from its PRO + plan, Drag'n Survey on its PREMIUM plan.
