In short
Go Up is the agency to shortlist if you want SEO at the centre of a full search programme, and it is based in Clerkenwell according to its own homepage. iDigitGroup suits clinics, legal firms and other local businesses that want SEO and AI search visibility, starting with a free audit. ClickSlice publishes named case results, including ecommerce brands, and offers a money back guarantee. Digitalhound is the choice for a free 30-minute first conversation from its Regent Street office. Burst Digital fits brands that want SEO tied to their website and paid media, with work across London and New York. Byter fits hospitality, fitness and retail businesses that want SEO bundled with social media and content. The deciding criterion is not the number of awards an agency lists. It is whether the agency names its clients, shows how it works and tells you what it will measure.

Choosing among SEO agencies in London starts with a simple fact about the market. According to IAB UK's Digital Adspend 2025 study, published on 3 March 2026, search took £17.9bn of UK digital advertising in 2025. That is 44% of the total, and it grew 6% on the year. A large part of that spending depends on the rankings SEO agencies work to win, and on the answers AI assistants give. A London agency is not automatically a better agency, but its address, its team and its clients are easier to check than a firm you only know from a website.
London has more private sector businesses than any other UK region. The Department for Business and Trade's Business Population Estimates for the UK and regions 2024, published on 3 October 2024, counted 983000 private sector businesses in London at the start of 2024, against 907000 in the South East of England. Many of them compete for the same searches, which is why so many agencies put London at the top of their homepage.
A London postcode on a homepage is only a starting point. It does not tell you who will answer your calls. This ranking therefore admits an agency only when its own site shows an address, an office or a team in London. Whether it is worth hiring is a separate question, answered by the criteria below.
Four fears come up again and again in this category, and most of them come from the same problem: SEO promises are easy to make and hard to check.
1. Paying for tactics that get the site penalised. Google's spam rules treat manipulative link schemes and thin content as violations, and a penalty costs you visibility you have already paid for. An agency that will not explain how it earns links, or that promises a fixed number of links each month, asks you to trust a method you cannot see.
2. Buying reviews and testimonials that are not real. A wall of five-star reviews is easy to buy and easy to display. Ask who writes the reviews shown on the agency's site, whether the reviewers can be named, and whether they appear on a Google Business Profile you can check yourself.
3. Paying for traffic that never turns into customers. A percentage gain on a homepage tells you little without the starting point, the period and the metric behind it. Visits that do not lead to enquiries are a cost, not a result, so agree on the measure before the first invoice.
4. Losing control of your own site. When the contract ends, who holds the Search Console property, the analytics account, the content and the redirects? An agency that keeps the keys to your site makes leaving expensive.
Four criteria, in this order, applied only to what each agency publishes about itself. We fixed them before checking which agencies would meet them. This page was reviewed in November 2026 and is scheduled for review every 90 days, because the London market changes quickly.
1. SEO at the core of the offer. Agencies that present SEO as their main service come before those that list it as one line among twenty services.
2. A London presence stated on the site. An address, an office or a team in London, as shown on the agency's own website.
3. Published proof. Named clients, reviews or results that the agency attributes to a client or to a source.
4. A readable offer. A method, an audit, a package or a stated commitment that a buyer can understand before the first call.
What we deliberately did not do: we did not treat the awards, review counts or growth percentages displayed on these sites as verified facts. Where we quote one, it is the agency's own claim. We did not audit any campaign, interview any client or verify a single result.

Go Up is a London-based search engine marketing, AI search optimisation and SEO agency, based in Clerkenwell according to its homepage. It calls itself London's leading SEO agency and says its services are trusted by world-renowned brands, international governments, startups and SMEs. It also lists a long list of awards and nominations. These are the agency's own claims: the homepage text we captured does not name individual clients, so ask for case studies in the first call.
Best for: London organisations that want a senior-led SEO partner inside a wider search programme and can afford a full engagement. Its "leading" and "industry gold standard" wording is its own, so judge it on the case studies it shows you.

iDigitGroup is an SEO and AEO agency founded in London in 2016. It says it works with businesses across the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain. Its homepage offers a free SEO audit run with its own crawler, shows a 5.0 rating from 47 reviews, and displays reviews from its Google Business Profile. Its specialisms are visible on the page: aesthetic clinics, dental practices, wellness centres, hospitality, estate agents and legal services. It also claims 156+ keywords ranked and 50+ happy clients, which are its own figures.
Best for: local practices and service businesses in regulated sectors such as health and law, which need compliant marketing and local search. Its client mix is broad, so ask which sector cases are closest to yours.

ClickSlice describes itself as a bespoke SEO agency in London, says it is ROI focused, and offers a money back guarantee. It is one of the few agencies on this list whose homepage names results: a 501% increase in organic traffic, record SEO growth in three months, and a headline about outranking DFS and Sofology. It also presents ecommerce brands among its clients. The guarantee is the agency's own offer, so read its terms before you sign: what triggers a refund, over which period, and against which baseline.
Best for: ecommerce and retail brands that want growth-focused SEO with named case studies, and that will hold the agency to the terms of its guarantee.

Gladly Digital presents itself as an expert SEO agency in London that helps ambitious brands grow with SEO, paid media and CRO. Its homepage shows named project work, including a window cleaning services website, a web design project for Harriet Meyer and a marketing consultancy project for CAD Journey, along with a "What People Say" section. The proof is in its project list rather than in large brand names, and the text we captured shows no price or package.
Best for: small and mid-sized businesses that want SEO bundled with a new website and prefer a hands-on team. The text we captured shows no address, so confirm where the team works before you rely on its London presence.

Digitalhound states that its office is on Regent Street, and calls itself "The London Agency That Talks Straight". Its services are SEO, digital PR, content, link building and social media, and its homepage includes a client reviews section. It says it works across the UK, Europe and North America. Its first step is a free 30-minute consultation with no sales pitch, where the agency says you will discuss where you are, where you want to be and whether it is the right fit.
Best for: London businesses that want a straightforward first conversation and a digital team that combines SEO and PR. Ask for named references, since the homepage reviews section does not name the clients in the text we captured.

ClickDo presents itself as the "#1 London SEO agency" and says it has 1000+ happy clients. Both are its own claims, and the homepage text we captured does not name those clients. Its offer combines SEO consulting, link building, local SEO, Google Ads services, web design and media consultation, which makes it a broad package for businesses that want search and PR under one roof. The homepage has a "Get Started" button, and the text we captured shows no prices.
Best for: small local businesses that want SEO, link building and paid search in one package. Treat the "#1" and "1000+" wording as marketing, and ask for named references and a written scope.

Burst Digital describes itself as a research-led growth agency working from London and New York. Its services include websites and CRO, AI search and SEO, paid advertising, marketing strategy and branding. Its homepage shows a 4.9/5 rating on Clutch, names clients including Vivienne Westwood, Howden, Langham Hotels and Konica Minolta, and says it has helped 500+ businesses. SEO is one part of a wider growth system, so it suits brands that also need their site and their message fixed.
Best for: brands that want SEO tied to website conversion and paid media, with named clients and reviews to check. If you need SEO alone, ask how much senior time the team will give it.

CEEK Marketing says it is the leading digital marketing agency in London and that it also has offices in Brighton and Manchester. Its homepage lists strategy, social media, SEO, paid media, influencer marketing, email and CRM, content and digital PR, and it says its SEO team has 20+ years of experience. CEEK presents SEO as one service among several, delivered inside integrated campaigns built on its own OCMX methodology, so judge its SEO work on its own case studies.
Best for: brands that want SEO, social and paid media run as one integrated campaign. If search is your only priority, a specialist SEO agency may give it more focus.

Found is a digital marketing agency in London that calls itself the AI-first Everysearch agency, built for brands that want to win across every searchable platform. Its homepage shows Google Premier Partner status, Great Place to Work, Best Places and a Recommended Agency mention from The Drum. Its services span PPC, SEO, paid social and creative content, and it describes Luminr as the visibility engine behind its approach. SEO sits inside a wider paid and creative offer, and its awards are the agency's own claims rather than verified results.
Best for: businesses that want SEO and paid search managed together and value a Google Premier Partner. Ask how SEO work is separated from the paid budget in the reporting.

Byter says it was founded in London in 2018 and targets hospitality, fitness and retail businesses. Its services are SEO, social media, content creation, advertising and web design. It says it has published 700+ articles and has 125+ portfolio projects. Its homepage lists clients including Hyatt, Hawley Wharf and Camden Market, and shows work for Manthan Mayfair.
Best for: hospitality, fitness and retail businesses that want SEO bundled with social media and content. The homepage shows mainly consumer brands, so ask for B2B references if that is your market.
The criteria below were chosen before checking who wins them. Each cell reflects what the agency publishes on its own site, as captured in our research file. "Not published" means the captured text does not show it, not that the agency lacks it.

Three questions separate a shortlist faster than any case study, and each one answers one of the fears above.
1. Which London team will work on the account, and where are they based? Ask for names and locations in writing. A London address on a homepage does not show who answers the phone, so agree the team and its base before you sign.
2. How will the results be proven, and against which starting point? Agree one or two indicators you already track, such as organic enquiries or sales, and record their level on day one. Ask whether any percentage gain is measured against a stated start date.
3. What happens to the content, the redirects and the analytics when the contract ends? Keep ownership of your Search Console and analytics accounts, your content and your redirects. An agency that holds the keys to your site makes leaving expensive.
Three limits, stated clearly, because a ranking that claims to settle everything is not useful.
It is built only on what each agency publishes about itself. We read the homepage text captured in our research file. We did not audit any site, interview any client or check any award. An agency that communicates little and delivers well will be underrated here.
It cannot know your sector or your budget. A clinic, a law firm and a retailer need different SEO teams, so the Best for lines matter more than the order.
It ages. Agencies in London appear, merge and close, and Google changes its search results all the time. This page is reviewed every 90 days.
This is the honest part, on a page published by a software company. An agency beats software where a person has to read a sector, judge which page deserves attention first, explain a drop in rankings to a board, or persuade a developer to change a template. Those calls depend on context that no tool holds today, and anyone who says otherwise is selling you something.
Software does the repetitive work well: keyword research, article drafts, internal linking, publishing to your site, and tracking how often your brand appears in the answers given by AI assistants. That is what Sorank does. It is software, not an agency. Pricing starts at 99€ per month, with 3 days offered and a card required at sign up. If you would rather talk it through first, book a call.
If you want a single recommendation: Go Up if you want an SEO-led London agency inside a full search programme, iDigitGroup for local practices in regulated sectors, ClickSlice for an ecommerce brand that wants a guarantee to test, and Digitalhound if you want a straightforward first conversation before you commit.
Ask the questions above before you ask about price. The agencies worth hiring can name their clients, show who will do the work and say how they will measure it. For a broader view of when an agency makes more sense than running SEO in house, read our agency guide.
London has more credible agencies than a top ten can hold. These came up in our research, and each one is described from its own site.
| Agency | Site | What they publish about themselves |
|---|---|---|
| Genie Crawl | geniecrawl.com | Says it is based in London and displays 300+ Google reviews on its homepage |
| Digivate | digivate.com | Describes itself as an award-winning full-service digital marketing agency in London, focused on user behaviour and conversion, PPC, SEO, social and content |
| Impression | impressiondigital.com | Performance marketing agency with offices in London and Nottingham, which reports a generative engine optimisation strategy that secured 47000+ clicks in a year |
| GA Agency | ga.agency | Independent global digital marketing agency based in London, with native specialists in 26 markets and 10+ years of growing global brands |
| Gripped | gripped.io | B2B digital marketing agency in London for SaaS, AI and tech companies, which says it has helped 160+ such companies |
This ranking reflects my own experience and opinion as an SEO expert with more than 7 years in the field. It is based on verified facts, but the order itself is my personal view.
Ask for names and locations in writing. A London address on a homepage does not show who answers the phone, so agree the team and its base before you sign.
Agree one or two indicators you already track, such as organic enquiries or sales, and record their level on day one. Ask whether any percentage gain is measured against a stated start date.
