In short
Benoit Descary is the best overall choice among the SEO consultants in Montreal: a senior SEO consultant since 2006 who presents himself as a direct contact, with a free audit and a response time of 48 hours guaranteed on his site. Hicham Souilmi suits a company that wants an audit followed by coaching or team training, in English, French or Arabic. Oussama Benzita is the right choice for a site whose traffic has stalled after a rebuild or a migration. Geneviève Bergeron suits non-profits, co-operatives and small Quebec businesses that want a low-impact website. AdsearchMedia is the option if you want one agency based in Montreal and Bordeaux, covering SEO, Google Ads and training. The right choice depends first on what is holding your site back: visibility, structure or the skills of your team.

Choosing among the best SEO consultants in Montreal means handing your search visibility to a person or a small firm that knows the local market, not to a national platform. According to Statistics Canada's release Digital technology and Internet use, 2021, published on 13 September 2022, 89% of Canadian businesses had at least one type of web presence in 2021, and one-third had at least some e-commerce sales. So the question is no longer whether to invest in SEO, but which consultant can make your pages rank and get them cited.
Montreal businesses compete for searches in French and in English, and many of them depend on a neighbourhood, a suburb or a region of Quebec. A consultant who works from the city knows which keywords carry local intent, how the French and English versions of a site should relate to each other, and which Quebec buyers are likely to call first.
Local presence also depends on Google's own rules. Google's guidelines for representing a business on Google (Google Business Profile Help, guidelines page, ©2026 Google; checked by us on 5 November 2026), distinguishes a business with a location customers can visit from a service-area business that travels to its customers, and asks the latter to list one central office with a designated service area. A consultant who knows which model applies to your firm avoids a profile that misstates where you work.
Being local has two limits. A consultant based in Montreal is not automatically the best one, and a Montreal address on a website does not prove that a team works there. Each consultant in this ranking was kept only if its own site shows a Montreal base, an office or a local clientele.
These four fears are the ones this ranking tries to answer.
Four criteria, fixed before we looked at which consultant should come first, applied only to what each consultant publishes on their own site. Every site was reviewed on 5 November 2026, and this page should be reviewed every 90 days.
1. SEO is the core business. The homepage presents SEO as the main service, not as one line among others.
2. A person or a team is named. The site says who does the work, so you know whom you are hiring.
3. A Montreal anchor. The site states a base or an office in Montreal, names neighbourhoods, or describes a local clientele.
4. A readable offer. A free audit, a free call or a clear description of the services is visible before the first exchange.
What we deliberately did not do: we did not repeat any client count or results figure published by the consultants, because we cannot verify them from outside. Years of experience are quoted only as each site states them, and we did not check them. When two figures on the same site contradict each other, we quote neither. We did not audit any site and we did not confirm any result.

Benoit Descary presents himself as a senior SEO and GEO consultant based in Montreal, working for Quebec small and mid-sized businesses since 2006. His site offers free audits, custom consultations and a ChatDirect chatbot, promises a response within 48 hours, and says the client works directly with the expert, with no intermediary.
Best for: Quebec SMEs that want one senior consultant who answers quickly and does the work personally. On the first call, ask what the free audit covers and whether the ChatDirect chatbot is part of the engagement or a separate project.

Hicham Souilmi describes himself as a senior SEO consultant in Montreal with ten years in SEO, working in English, French and Arabic. He offers an SEO and GEO audit, ongoing support, coaching and team training, and says he helps businesses get cited by Google and by AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Perplexity. His site also offers a free tool that checks whether an AI assistant can cite a homepage.
Best for: companies that want an audit, then coaching or training for their own team, in English or Arabic as well as French. The client list on his site mixes brands worked on in-house and brands worked on through agencies, so ask which of them you would be working with directly.

Ambroise Collard has been an SEO expert in Montreal since 2015 and went solo as a consultant in 2023. His site organises his work around three areas: SEO structure, SEO content and web popularity. He offers a free discovery call, invites Montreal businesses to meet and talk about their goals, and also takes calls from elsewhere in Quebec or France.
Best for: small businesses and start-ups in Montreal that want to meet a consultant before committing. The site speaks to entrepreneurs and creators in an informal tone, so check that the depth of the audit matches the needs of a larger site.

Oussama Benzita is a technical SEO consultant in Montreal. He presents his work as audits, site structure, internal linking and migrations for sites whose traffic has stalled. His site says he first finds what is holding the site back, then tells the client what to fix and in what order. It also covers local search in Montreal and content direction.
Best for: sites whose traffic stalled after a rebuild or a migration, or sites that publish a lot without results. His site focuses on structure rather than writing volume, so it suits a business less well if its main need is a steady content calendar.

Jérôme Mongeau presents himself as an SEO consultant in Montreal with more than 15 years of experience. He offers site redesigns with SEO safeguards, one-to-one SEO mentoring for teams, and an audit of how a brand appears in generative AI answers. He also says he uses Claude Code extensively to automate repetitive tasks.
Best for: marketing teams that want to build SEO skills in-house, or companies planning a redesign that must not lose its rankings. If you want a consultant to carry out the changes rather than coach your team, ask on the first call who will do the work.

Geneviève Bergeron is an SEO and sustainable digital marketing consultant in Montreal. She works with non-profits, co-operatives, solo entrepreneurs and small businesses in Quebec, and combines SEO with eco-designed websites, responsible AI and email marketing. Her site mentions WCAG AA accessibility and light, lean pages, and offers a 30-minute virtual coffee to start.
Best for: non-profits, co-operatives and small Quebec businesses that want a low-impact website and SEO built together. The offer is made to measure, so ask for a written scope before the virtual coffee turns into a project.

Antoine Blot presents himself as an SEO and GEO consultant and marketing director based in Montreal. Besides SEO, his site offers outsourced marketing direction and an AI architecture service, and it presents search visibility as part of the company's overall growth strategy. His blog asks whether outsourcing marketing is a strategy or a glass ceiling, and whether SEO still sells.
Best for: companies that want SEO linked to a wider marketing plan and that are ready to outsource marketing direction. If you only need a technical SEO audit, a more specialised profile on this list will serve you better.

John Mingam presents himself as a GEO, SEO and AI search consultant in Montreal. He works on technical SEO, entities, the Knowledge Graph, structured data and Schema.org, using what he calls the SFT method. He also publishes Le Graph, a media site on search, which includes an annual report on GEO in Quebec.
Best for: brands that want entity and structured data work done so that AI assistants can identify them correctly. The site is built around what John Mingam calls the SFT method. Before you sign, ask him to explain what the SFT method covers and to show a sample deliverable.

AdsearchMedia is an SEO and SEM agency based in Montreal and Bordeaux, active since 2006. Its site lists website search optimisation, Google Ads campaign management, SEO training and SEO copy rewriting, for small and mid-sized businesses as well as larger accounts, and names its founder, Laurent Lucas.
Best for: businesses that want SEO, Google Ads and team training from one agency with a named founder. Because it is an agency rather than a solo consultant, ask who will work on your account day to day.

Julien Henry presents himself as a digital strategy consultant in Montreal, and his first listed service is SEO: site audits, recommendations, support for website migrations and operational steering. His site also covers online advertising, analytics and tracking (GA4, Google Tag Manager, dashboards), content and training, delivered individually or in groups, on site or remotely.
Best for: companies that want SEO and analytics handled by one consultant who also takes care of the operational side. The site presents SEO first but covers many services, so ask how much time is set aside for the SEO work itself.

Three limits, stated clearly.
It is based on public information. We read what each consultant publishes and did not test any site, audit any account or confirm any result. A consultant who communicates little and delivers well will be underrated here.
It does not know your sector. A consultant who works mostly with non-profits will not necessarily suit an e-commerce catalogue with thousands of product pages. The Best for lines matter more than the rank number.
It ages. Sites change, team members leave and offers are updated. Check each site before you sign.
A consultant makes judgement calls: which pages to rewrite first, which local signals to fix, and when a migration is safe to launch. Organic search also needs steady content over months, and a consultant can build that routine with you.
Sorank is a software platform, not an agency. After an audit of your site, it finds the keywords that matter to your business, writes and publishes articles for Google and for AI assistants, and shows you when an AI assistant cites your brand. Pricing starts at US$49 per month billed yearly (US$99 per month with no commitment), with a 3-day free trial. To see how it fits your site, book a demo with Sorank or visit sorank.com.
The best SEO consultant in Montreal is the one who fits the problem your site has today. For a Quebec business that wants one senior contact and a quick answer, Benoit Descary comes first. For an audit followed by coaching or team training, Hicham Souilmi. For a site whose traffic has stalled, Oussama Benzita. For a non-profit or a small business that wants a sustainable website, Geneviève Bergeron. Whoever you choose, ask who does the work and who owns your access before the first invoice.
