Our ranking of the 10 best independent branding consultants in France in 2027, checked one by one, with references, published prices and limits.

In short
Justine Grosset is the strongest profile among the best branding consultants in France for a luxury, beauty or lifestyle brand: after working at Chanel and the Richemont group, she builds brand platforms and names clients such as L'Occitane en Provence, Byredo, Montblanc and Fairmont. T_BO Conseil is a better fit for an organisation that wants to rework its brand with its teams, Jean-Charles Espy for a mid-sized company or a local authority in southwest France that also wants help choosing its agency, and Camille Moreau for an SME that wants to know its budget before the first call. The right choice depends first on what you are missing: a written strategy, a visual identity, or both.

Choosing among the best branding consultants in France means handing the positioning, the messaging and often the visual identity of your company to a single person rather than to an agency team. The person who runs the workshops is the one who writes the brand platform and defends the choices in front of your management. One point is settled before any talk of a logo: the name. INPI, the French intellectual property office, reminds readers that a trademark must not reuse a sign already protected for similar goods or services, and that skipping this check before filing is “particularly risky”, according to its page on the conditions for a valid trademark. This ranking brings together ten independent consultants, checked one by one, and says for each which type of company they suit.
An independent branding consultant leads the thinking and produces the work personally. The interviews with your teams, the analysis of your competitors, the writing of the brand platform and, depending on their profile, the creation of the visual identity all go through the same person, with no project manager or creative director between you and your brand.
This format has three advantages for an SME or a mid-sized company: you speak directly to the person who shapes the brand, fees are often lower than at an agency because there is no structure to fund, and consistency between the strategy and its visual expression is easier to maintain when one mind carries both. It also has two limits: one person cannot produce a brand platform, a full identity, a website, campaigns and materials for ten countries all at once, and their schedule sets your timeline. Several consultants on this list solve this with a network of graphic designers, copywriters or developers, or by leaving the rollout to you.
If you need to rename a group, overhaul several brands at once or roll out an identity across hundreds of touchpoints, an agency team is often a better fit. Our ranking of the best branding agencies in France covers that case.
Five criteria, in this order, applied only to what each consultant publishes on their own site. Every site on this list was reviewed on 16 October 2026, and this page is scheduled for review every 90 days.
1. Branding is the core business. Consultants who present brand strategy or brand identity as their specialty come before those who list it among printing, social media management or website creation.
2. Proof you can check yourself. Named clients, dated case studies, signed testimonials, published training or a detailed background in well-known agencies and brands count for more than a satisfaction figure shown without a source.
3. An offer you can read before the first call. A published starting price, a list of deliverables or a method described step by step.
4. Fit with a type of company. We deliberately kept profiles that serve very different needs (luxury house, mid-sized company, research laboratory, law firm, small local business) and said which ones.
5. Real, independent activity. A live website, the person's name displayed, engagements carried out by the consultant personally or by a structure of one to three people. Agencies that rely on a salaried team were left out of this ranking, even when they present themselves as a studio.
What we deliberately did not do: we did not repeat the numbers of projects delivered or brands supported, nor the satisfaction rates published by the consultants, because there is no way to verify them from outside. Rankings of consultants published by a consultant on their own site did not count as proof. We did not assess any delivered identity, and we did not include personal branding coaches, whose work concerns the brand of an individual rather than that of a company.
Justine Grosset is an independent consultant in brand strategy and editorial direction, based between Paris and Geneva. She worked in marketing, product, training and customer experience at Chanel, The Kooples and the Richemont group before setting up on her own. Her clients page names Chanel, L'Occitane en Provence, Byredo, Initio, F.P.Journe, Montblanc, Fairmont, Barbara Bui, Eden Park and Fragonard. She designs brand platforms, writes brand copy in French and English, works as an outsourced marketing director and designs training programmes and customer experience journeys. She also offers ÉCLORE, a programme for building your brand platform, either with one-to-one support or as an online course. Her site features a profile published in Forbes France. Her prices are not published.
Best for: luxury, beauty, watchmaking or hospitality houses, and young brands in these sectors that want messaging on a par with the major houses. Her clients page does not always detail the work carried out for each brand: on the first call, ask for examples of platforms she has delivered.

T_BO Conseil is a Paris brand strategy firm founded in February 2007, run by Philippe Jeantet with Christine Trin, who presents herself as a “brand therapist”. The firm's method, the Brand Thérapie d'Entreprise (corporate brand therapy), runs in three stages: listening to executives and employees, formulating the purpose, promise, values and narrative, then translating them into a visual identity, an editorial tone and internal tools. The firm handles corporate, commercial, collective (labels) and employer brands. It details three engagements, each with a signed testimonial: AFNOR (diagnosis, brand architecture scenarios, new guidelines), the IT services company WEB-ATRIO (brand overhaul, employer brand built with the teams, new logo) and the association OTECI. Its prices are not published.
Best for: mid-sized companies, federations and associations whose brand touches on internal culture, a merger or recruitment. The approach involves your teams: plan for your staff's time, and ask which creative partners handle the visual side.

Jean-Charles Espy runs Brand Consulting, a brand consultancy he launched in Toulouse in January 2017. His background is detailed on his site: sales roles at Procter & Gamble and Kraft Foods in the 1980s, then more than 25 years in branding and communication, at Young & Rubicam, at Publicis and ten years at TBWA, before founding two agencies in 2008, which he sold at the end of 2016. He offers brand audits, benchmarking, competitive and online reputation monitoring, support in choosing a communication agency, in-company training and talks. His site lists clients such as the Lactalis group, Procter & Gamble, Pierre Fabre, Saint-Gobain, Ingenico, the Haute-Garonne département and Toulouse School of Management. He works with seven associated professionals (packaging, market research, graphic design, SEO, web). His prices are not published.
Best for: mid-sized companies, food brands and local authorities in Occitanie, and management teams that want an outside view to write a call for tenders or choose an agency. The site does not specify the status of the associates: ask who will carry out each part of the engagement.

Cécile Badouard founded brands on time, a brand strategy consultancy, after a career in agencies: head of strategy and strategic planning, manager then managing director within the Havas, Hopscotch and becoming groups, and fifteen years as an entrepreneur. Among the brands she has worked with over her career, she cites Canal+, Kiabi, Bjorg, Les 2 Marmottes, EasyJet, Wavestone and Mapa. Her consulting offer is based on a diagnostic method, “On time or not”, designed with the OpinionWay research institute and repeatable every year, and leads to a brand, communication or innovation platform. She also trains teams in strategic planning and trends, with L'Académie du newbiz, and places brand experts on assignments, with a shortlist of three profiles within 72 hours. Her prices are not published.
Best for: established consumer brands that feel they have aged and want to measure how out of step they are with the times before changing their messaging. The brands cited date from her agency career: ask for references of engagements carried out under brands on time.

Nina Dufrène is an independent brand strategist and editorial director, between Bordeaux and Paris. An architect by training, she has worked between media and agencies and states more than ten years of experience. Her site presents case studies for Biafine, VINCI Autoroutes, Arla Protein, Chateauform, Tonies and Médecins du Monde, ranging from strategic planning to brand content. She covers brand strategy, trend analysis, content strategy and editorial direction, and also works as an outsourced marketing director or as a thinking partner. She co-founded the creative studio Prélude. Her prices are not published.
Best for: brands that have a strategy to reformulate and content to produce straight after, with the same voice from positioning to copy. For a logo and a visual identity guide, she is not the most direct profile on this list.

Camille Moreau is a brand designer and web designer in Toulouse and states 17 years of experience. She publishes her starting prices: from €6,000 for a full branding project, covering brand DNA (positioning, values, story), brand language (tone, vocabulary, tagline), brand architecture, visual identity, a brandbook and a launch kit; from €3,500 for a visual identity alone; from €5,200 for a WordPress site. She presents two recent projects, Cafés Di-Costanzo, a coffee roaster in the Gers, in 2024 and Groupe PLB, a public works company in Lyon, in 2026, and publishes signed testimonials from executives and communication managers at HARVEY, SATENCO and Cafés Di-Costanzo. She refers clients to partners for online shops and social media management.
Best for: SMEs and very small businesses that want a consistent brand and website with a single point of contact and a budget known in advance. For a brand strategy covering several countries or several brands, a more consulting-oriented profile will be a better fit.

Nicolas Lamy is an art director in Paris and founded a branding and visual identity studio where he works with a project manager, Flore Manent. The studio states ten years of practice and lists among its clients Dior, LVMH, Le Bon Marché, Challenges and the Philharmonie de Paris. Its recent references, dated 2024 and 2025, range from fashion (Chateau 14) to retail (Madame Monsieur, Maison Chistera) and industry (Bachmann RDS). Its approach follows three stages, analysis, exploration and rollout, and ends with the handover of a complete set of deliverables, with a single point of contact from start to finish. Its prices are not published.
Best for: premium brands, venues, shops and fashion houses that want a demanding and lasting visual identity. The site says little about a written brand platform: if you are starting from scratch on positioning, ask what the analysis phase includes.

Jonathan Ravallec is a brand strategy consultant and trainer in Nice, and states nearly 25 years in marketing and communication. A graduate of Grenoble École de Management, he has been a product manager, market manager, pricing manager and then marketing and communication director, and created his own e-commerce company. He is a volunteer expert at Initiative Nice Côte d'Azur. He offers a two-hour brand audit, coaching from one hour, fixed-fee engagements as an outsourced consultant and training on value proposition, brand identity, storytelling and brand platform. His site names clients such as Les Mains de Mamie, Baguette à Bicyclette and Wia Cosmétiques, and he calls on partners for naming, graphic design and trademark law. His prices are not published.
Best for: start-ups and very small businesses in the Nice area that want to clarify their positioning with a marketing director's eye, or train a small team in branding. His named clients are mostly young brands: for a mid-sized company, ask for comparable references.

Axel Faure is a freelance designer in Grenoble, specialising in visual communication for research and industry, and states more than four years of activity. He works alone, with freelancers in 3D, photography or development on some projects. His case studies cover CEA-Leti (the European FAMES project), CEA (its start-up portfolio), Vinci Facilities (a film) and the identity of ScientéLéa. Branding and identity are one of his six services, alongside trade show materials, websites, 3D and video. He publishes his prices: branding from €4,000, between €4,000 and €7,000 for a full identity according to his FAQ, and a day rate from €500 with no commitment or €400 with a twelve-month commitment.
Best for: laboratories, research spin-off start-ups and manufacturers that need an identity able to explain a technology, then the trade show materials to go with it. His activity is more recent than that of the other profiles on this list, and branding is only one service among six.

Paul Boulant works as a brand designer under the name Branddesigner. His offer ranges from strategy (brand audit, strategic platform) to visual and sound identity, brand manifestos, brand books and annual reports, through to films and web documentaries. His portfolio, dated from 2016 to 2024, includes a large share of legal professions (Haas Avocats, Citylex, Barreau en actes, Génération Médiation), as well as Crockett and Jones, the Fondation Aviva and a Cœur Yves Saint Laurent stamp. The site specifies neither the city, nor the number of people, nor the prices.
Best for: law firms and consulting firms that want a polished identity and brand documents, from the manifesto to the annual report. The latest published project dates from 2024: check his availability and ask for more recent work.

Four points to raise on the first call, whoever the consultant is.
Three limits, stated clearly.
It is based on public information. We read what each consultant publishes and checked that each site was live on 16 October 2026. We did not interview any client or assess any delivered identity. A consultant who works mostly as a subcontractor for agencies and communicates little will be underrated here.
It does not know your brand. The right consultant for repositioning an established consumer brand is rarely the right one for designing the identity of a laboratory spin-off. The Best for lines matter more than the rank number. If your project calls for a full team, see our ranking of the 10 best branding agencies in France (2027).
It ages. Consultants' prices, offers and availability change quickly. Check on the consultant's site before you sign.
A consultant makes the call: which positioning to defend against your competitors, which brand to keep after a merger, how far to evolve a logo your customers recognise. These decisions require listening to your executives, your teams and your customers. Once the brand is set, it still has to come alive every week in content, and that is often where brand work stops for lack of time.
Sorank takes care of that part: the platform writes and publishes articles in your brand's tone, designed for Google and for AI assistants, and shows you when an AI assistant cites your company. Many companies combine the two: the consultant to define the brand, Sorank to keep it heard without interruption.
The best branding consultant is the one whose usual engagements resemble your company. For a luxury or beauty brand, Justine Grosset offers the most verifiable references. For an organisation that wants to involve its teams in its brand, T_BO Conseil. For a mid-sized company in southwest France or an agency selection to prepare, Jean-Charles Espy. For an SME that wants a known price before starting, Camille Moreau is the most transparent. And to make your brand heard every week on Google and in AI assistants, Sorank can take over from the consultant.
The prices published by the consultants in this ranking range from €3,500 for a visual identity alone to €6,000 for a full branding project with platform, identity and brandbook. One designer also publishes a day rate from €400 with a twelve-month commitment, or €500 with no commitment. Most brand strategy consultants publish no prices and prepare a quote based on the number of interviews, brands and deliverables.
A consultant suits you when you want a single point of contact who leads the thinking and writes it up personally, and your team or an agency can then roll out the identity. An agency becomes a better fit when you need to rename a group, overhaul several brands at once or adapt the identity across many media and countries, with a team that does not depend on a single person.
Ask for named clients and an anonymised example of a brand platform they have delivered, read signed testimonials and check their background in agencies or on the client side. Have the contract state the assignment of copyright on the identity and the handover of the source files. If the engagement touches the name, ask who carries out the prior trademark search, which INPI, the French intellectual property office, considers particularly risky to skip.
