Our ranking of the 10 best freelance press officers in France in 2027, checked one by one, with specialties, published prices, references and limits.

In short
Nathalie Demichel is the strongest profile among the best PR consultants in France for a start-up, an SME or a mid-sized company with an announcement to get known: an independent press officer in Lyon for more than twenty years, she publishes signed testimonials from company heads who describe the coverage obtained, up to AFP and the national TV news. Frédéric Lorey is a better fit for an SME in western France that wants to know the price before the first call, Caroline Elbaz-Zenatti for a company head who has to speak to journalists personally, and Guilaine Depis for an author or a publisher. The right choice depends first on your sector, because a press officer is worth above all the journalists they know in your field.

Choosing among the best PR consultants in France means handing a single person the choice of angles, the writing of press releases, the calls to journalists and the follow-up of coverage. An article obtained through press relations cannot be bought: the journalist remains free to cover your subject or not, and a serious press officer says so before signing. Press relations also rely on journalist databases, and these databases are regulated: in July 2021, the CNIL, the French data protection authority, fined Monsanto 400,000 euros, in particular because the company had not set a contractual framework for the work of the public relations providers who had built its database, according to the decision published by the CNIL. This ranking brings together ten independent press officers, checked one by one, and says for each which type of client they suit.
A freelance press officer is both your point of contact and the person who calls the journalists. The brief, the writing of the press release, the follow-up calls, the organisation of interviews and the press review all go through the same person, with no project manager or assistant between you and the newsrooms.
This format has three advantages for a start-up, an SME or an artist: contact is direct, fees are often lower than at an agency because there is no team to fund, and journalists recognise the voice of the person calling them. It also has two limits: one person cannot handle several national launches at the same time, and their address book rarely covers every sector. Most consultants on this list have therefore specialised (food, wine, theatre, publishing, health) or work with a few partner freelancers for events, video or social media.
If you need a presence in several countries, press and influencer relations on a large scale, or a team able to handle a crisis at any hour, an agency is often a better fit. Our ranking of the 10 best PR agencies in France (2027) covers that case.
Five criteria, in this order, applied only to what each consultant publishes on their own site. Every site on this list was reviewed on 17 October 2026, and this page is scheduled for review every 90 days.
1. Press relations are the core business. Press officers who present media relations as their central activity come before those who list them among events, graphic design or social media management.
2. Proof you can check yourself. Named clients, testimonials signed by an identifiable company head, a current programme you can check, or articles about the consultant count for more than a coverage counter shown without a source.
3. An offer you can read before the first call. A published price, a package whose content is detailed (number of press releases, follow-up calls, press review) or a clear explanation of how the quote is prepared.
4. Fit with a type of client. We deliberately kept profiles that serve very different needs (start-ups, industry, food, wine, publishing, performing arts, agency support) and specified which.
5. Real, independent activity. Site online, name of the person displayed, activity run alone or by two or three people at most. Press offices that rely on a salaried team and collectives of around ten consultants were excluded, even when their references are strong.
What we deliberately did not do: we did not use the coverage counts, satisfaction rates or audiences announced by the consultants, because nothing allows them to be checked from the outside. Logos shown without a client name, rankings published by a consultant on their own site and awards announced by the winner themselves did not count as proof. We did not check any press coverage article by article.
Nathalie Demichel has been an independent press officer in Lyon for more than twenty years. She holds a communication degree from Sciences Po Lyon and started out in the cultural sector and writing for the press. She works for mid-sized companies, SMEs, start-ups, associations and public bodies, with a more recent specialty in health, medtech and biotech. She names clients such as HiPP, the ECE/INSEEC group and Agefiph, and publishes signed testimonials from company heads: that of Dessintey, whose head mentions stories on TF1, France 2 and France 5, or that of NeoMedLight, whose announcement of a funding round and an FDA authorisation was picked up by AFP. She offers one-off or long-term press relations, the writing of materials (press releases, press kits, web pages) and training to run your own press relations, and also works as back-up for communication agencies. Her prices are not published: a schedule and a quote are drawn up at the start of each engagement.
Best for: health start-ups, manufacturers and SMEs in the Lyon area that have a specific announcement to carry (funding round, authorisation, launch) and want a single point of contact from the press release to the press review. With no published price, compare her quote with at least one other proposal.

Frédéric Lorey is a freelance press officer in Nantes. He dates his start in the profession to 1998 and works mainly in western France, in Nantes, Rennes and Angers. He publishes his prices: €1,500 excl. VAT a month for full media relations support, which includes about six press releases a year, their distribution, follow-up calls, interview preparation and the delivery of the coverage obtained, €3,000 excl. VAT for a one-off action, €2,000 excl. VAT for writing a press kit and €2,500 excl. VAT for a press conference or a press trip. His references page names his clients: Groupe Connectt and its temporary work agencies, Expat Communication and its Baromètre de l'Expatriation since 2020, the UPI congress in Angers in 2023 and 2024, La Boîte à Pizza, Catapoux and Vaerdict. He writes that he cannot guarantee a minimum result, since journalists decide what to publish.
Best for: SMEs, franchise networks and event organisers in western France that want a budget known in advance and good coverage in the regional press. His references describe the campaign objectives without listing the articles obtained: ask for a press review on the first call.

Caroline Elbaz-Zenatti trained at the Centre de Formation des Journalistes in Paris and has worked freelance as a journalist and press officer for more than fifteen years, under the CEZ Presse brand. Before that, she headed communication at the Association Française d'Épargne et de Retraite, then was a senior writer at the agency La Compagnie d'écriture. She offers three services: press relations in France or abroad, media coaching to prepare a television or radio interview, and writing (speeches, annual reports, corporate books). She publishes her prices: €2,500 excl. VAT a month as a package for press relations, about €2,000 excl. VAT for editorial consulting and €220 excl. VAT per page (feuillet) of writing. She names her clients and details two campaigns: Stewdy, a tutoring site, presented to education media before the brevet and baccalauréat exams, and Devenir Meilleur, an organisation that trains athletes' coaches, presented to sports journalists during the preparation for the 2024 Games. Her list also mentions the fintech Nanceo, Studio Anatole and the Fédération Française de Détection de Métaux.
Best for: company heads who will have to answer journalists themselves and companies that want press relations and writing from the same person. Her monthly package is the highest published on this list: ask for the minimum duration and what it includes.

Guilaine Depis is a press officer in Paris, in the 6th arrondissement, through her sole proprietorship Balustrade, and has been a communication professional since 2004. Her specialty is book promotion: novels, essays, poetry, short stories, children's literature and books of all kinds (politics, health, economics, humour). She also works for companies, foundations, associations and artists, organises fairs and moderates debates. Her site is one of the richest on this ranking: it devotes a news section to several authors she represents, such as Joaquin Scalbert or Philippe Enquin, and gathers articles and interviews in which she is quoted, including a portrait published by the association Femmes 3000. In 2026 she launched a format of interviews and debates, « Le Salon de Guilaine ». Her prices are not published.
Best for: authors, independent publishers and publishing houses releasing a book that want to reach the literary and cultural press. Her site is very dense and mixes many activities: on the first call, ask for the list of titles handled over the last twelve months and the coverage obtained.

Claire Contamine is a press relations and communication consultant based in Burgundy, working in France and internationally, with a network of partners for export markets. Her references page is the longest on this ranking in wine and spirits: the Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne, the Douro and Port Wine Institute, William Fèvre, Bouchard Père et Fils, Maison Champy, Cognac Camus and Les Fumées Blanches by François Lurton. She also cites clients outside wine, such as Cristallerie Saint-Louis, APRR, the Fondation Orange and Bourgogne Tourisme. She also handles press relations and crisis management for professional organisations (building materials, self-employed doctors, appellation bodies). Her prices are not published.
Best for: wine estates, négociant houses, interprofessional bodies and suppliers to the wine industry that target the specialist press in France and abroad. The latest news on her site dates from September 2023: ask which of her references are current.

Marine Benady runs Benady RP, an independent press office in Paris devoted solely to gastronomy. After starting out on the brand side in lifestyle and spirits, she has worked independently in the culinary sector since 2014 and launched the Benady RP structure in 2023. She works with chefs, artisans, restaurants and food brands, with a deliberately limited number of clients each year, in press relations and influencer marketing, per project or on an annual basis. She names her clients, including the starred restaurant L'Axel, chef Antoine Westermann, Quentin Maufrais (Top Chef 2024), the Confédération des Glaciers de France and Caviar de Neuvic, and publishes testimonials from Felini and L'Axel. Her prices are not published.
Best for: chefs opening a restaurant, food artisans and food brands that target the gastronomic press and guides. Her site speaks of “the agency” without saying how many people work there: ask who will handle your account day to day.

Mary Grammont is an independent consultant in Grenoble under the name Daily RP. She offers press and influencer relations, content writing and tailored training to teach in-house teams to run their own press relations. She works mainly for start-ups, very small businesses and SMEs in tech, real estate, construction, industry and services. Her site publishes named testimonials: Benjamin Ducousso, president of Wizbii, who describes five years of collaboration, Alexandre Collet, head of Freemens, Nicolas Planté for Air Naturel, who mentions coverage in Femme Actuelle, Prima and Télé 7 Jours and an appearance on France 5, and Fabienne Combier for the Grenoble Chamber of Commerce (CCI). In 2012 she also co-founded the blog Les Mondaines. Her prices are not published.
Best for: start-ups and SMEs in the Grenoble area that want ongoing press relations and a team trained to take over. Her site shows two different lengths of experience, eight and fifteen years: ask her to clarify her background and request a recent press review.

Alexandra de La Purification has been a freelance press officer for more than ten years, under the name Alexandra RP, and works as outsourced back-up for PR agencies, press offices and communication teams. She handles follow-up phone calls to journalists, tracking responses with a daily report, organising interviews with company heads, qualifying press databases and distributing press releases under white label. She publishes her day rates: €360 excl. VAT for follow-up calls, €300 excl. VAT for distributing press materials and €450 excl. VAT for database qualification, with the option of working by the half-day. Her site publishes testimonials in the name of LEO Pharma France, Omnicom PR Group France and Accor. She advises booking her two to three weeks in advance.
Best for: agencies and communication departments that already have the strategy and the press releases, and lack hands to call journalists during a launch. If you are looking for someone to build your press strategy from scratch, another profile on this list will suit you better.

Baptiste Depois founded BDP in Paris in 2017, a brand strategy and press relations consultancy focused on sport, lifestyle and culture. His references page names brands and events: Reebok, Lidl, AG2R La Mondiale, Epson, the CrossFit competition French Throwdown, and the 1001 Notes en Limousin and La Baule festivals. He states that he ran several of these projects with two freelancers, Patricia Menant and Valérie Moriez. His prices are not published.
Best for: sports brands, federations, gyms and competition organisers that want to reach the sports and lifestyle press. His references are not dated: ask which are recent and who, between him and his partners, will handle your account.

Francesca Magni has been a press officer for the performing arts for more than twelve years. A former actress and artistic director of a theatre company, she started in press relations within the collective La Strada et Compagnie, where she worked for nine years, then founded her own office in 2014. Her biography names theatres and festivals she has worked for: the CDN de Montreuil, the TnBA in Bordeaux, the Comédie de l'Est, the Lucernaire, the Déchargeurs, the Festival d'Avignon and its Off festival, Figeac and La Mousson d'été. Her 2026-2027 season programme is online and can be checked, with shows at the Théâtre Paris-Villette, La Pépinière Théâtre and the Théâtre de Suresnes Jean Vilar. Her prices are not published.
Best for: theatre companies, directors and venues preparing a new production in Paris or a run at the Avignon festival. Her address book is that of theatre critics: for a company or a product, the other profiles on this list are a better fit.

Four points to raise on the first call, whoever the consultant is.
Three limits, stated clearly.
It is based on public information. We read what each consultant publishes and checked that each site was live on 17 October 2026. We did not verify any press coverage or contact any client. A press officer in high demand who pays little attention to their site will be underrated here.
It does not know your sector. The right press officer for a new production at the Avignon festival is rarely the right one for a medtech funding round. The Best for lines matter more than the rank number.
It only covers independents. Several serious press offices were excluded because they employ a team or bring together a collective of consultants. If your project needs several people full time, see our ranking of the 10 best PR agencies in France (2027), and always check prices and availability on the consultant's site before you sign.
A press officer chooses the angle that will interest a newsroom, knows which journalist to call and when, and prepares your spokesperson for the interview. These choices rest on relationships built over years, which no press release distribution tool replaces. What repeats every week, publishing content on your own site that answers your customers' questions, is often what is missing between two press campaigns.
That is what Sorank automates: after an audit of your site, the platform finds your keywords, writes and publishes articles optimised for Google and for AI assistants, and shows you when an AI assistant cites your brand. Many companies combine the two: the press officer to get articles in the media, the software to keep your site supplied with content between two announcements.
The best press officer is the one who already knows the journalists in your sector. For a start-up or an SME with a strong announcement, Nathalie Demichel offers the most verifiable proof. For an SME in western France that wants a published price, Frédéric Lorey. For a company head who has to go on radio or television personally, Caroline Elbaz-Zenatti. For a book, Guilaine Depis, for wine, Claire Contamine, and for gastronomy, Marine Benady. And to keep your site getting you cited by Google and by AI assistants between two campaigns, discover Sorank.
The prices published by the consultants in this ranking range from €300 to €450 excl. VAT a day for one-off support (follow-up calls, distribution, database qualification) to a monthly package of €1,500 to €2,500 excl. VAT for full press relations support. A published one-off action costs €3,000 excl. VAT, and organising a press conference or a press trip €2,500 excl. VAT. Most press officers publish no prices and prepare a quote based on the length of the engagement and the number of announcements.
A freelance press officer suits you when you want a single point of contact who knows the journalists in your sector well and handles every follow-up call personally. An agency becomes a better fit when you launch several national announcements at the same time, or need press relations in several countries or a team available in a crisis, without depending on a single person.
Ask for three recent pieces of coverage obtained for clients close to your business, with the link to each article, and call a client named on their site. Be wary of any guarantee of coverage: the journalist alone decides what to publish. Also ask where their journalist database comes from and what their package includes (number of press releases, follow-up calls, press review).
THEY TRIED SORANK BEFORE YOU
