The short answerThe French e-commerce agency market has consolidated around one platform, with a strong minority still working on the older open source systems that many established retailers run. The real differences between the agencies are vertical specialisation, whether they handle B2B as well as consumer sales, and how much of the marketing they take on after the store goes live. Axome ranks first for the depth of a platform practice large enough to handle complex builds and migrations.

Here is the full ranking, with what each agency says it does and the situation it suits best.

1. Axome.2. Lobstter. Two decades of e-commerce, B2B and marketplaces included. Best for demanding technical setups.

A large platform partner covering builds and migrations. Best for complex projects.

3. Artich.

Two platforms, plus marketing, data and AI services. Best for B2B and B2C together.

5. Maukau. Growth accelerator with internationalisation expertise. Best for selling across borders.

6. KNR Agency.7. Dedi Agency. E-commerce and digital marketing since 2004, strong on B2B. Best for B2B commerce.

Beauty, fashion and luxury only. Best for brands where design decides the sale.

8. Ecomiz.

A certified specialist on creation and optimisation. Best for a focused build.

10. W3lead. Store, conversion and email in one team. Best for smaller brands.

What buying an e-commerce agency actually means now

Ten years ago the question was which technology to build on. Today, for most brands under a certain size, the platform question is largely settled, and the agency's value has moved elsewhere: to the catalogue logic, the integrations with stock and logistics, the international setup, and the speed at which the store can be changed after launch.

The second shift is that the build is no longer the end of the relationship. Almost every agency on this page now sells conversion work, email retention or acquisition alongside the store, because a beautifully built store with no traffic and no repeat customers is not a business.

The third is vertical depth. Beauty, fashion, food and industrial B2B have almost nothing in common operationally, and the agencies that concentrate on one of them arrive already knowing where the difficulties are.

How we ranked these agencies

We used four criteria, in this order, and only what each agency publishes about itself.

1. Platform depth. Partner status, number of projects shipped and the technologies named on the site.

2. What happens after launch. Agencies that also cover conversion, retention or acquisition are selling a store that keeps improving.

3. Vertical or B2B specialisation. Named sectors and named B2B capability, both of which change the work substantially.

4. Whether the site is alive and clear. We looked at every homepage in our list, in August 2026. One domain in our e-commerce list now serves an unrelated foreign gambling site, which is a useful reminder to check that a directory listing still points where it claims.

We did not repeat the project counts, revenue handled or client names published on these homepages, because none of them can be verified from the outside.

The 10 best e-commerce and Shopify agencies in France

1. Axome

Axome holds the top partner status on the dominant e-commerce platform and covers creation, migration and optimisation on its enterprise tier, working across many sectors. Size matters on this particular job: a migration with a large catalogue, existing customer data and live orders needs a team that has done it many times rather than a talented pair.

Best for: complex builds and migrations where failure is expensive.

Axome covers creation, migration and enterprise tier optimisation.

2. Lobstter

Lobstter combines top tier partner status with two decades of e-commerce experience, and names the harder parts explicitly: B2B, marketplaces, enterprise resource planning integration and search visibility. It addresses small and mid sized companies, direct to consumer brands and established names, positioning itself for projects where the store has become strategic.

Best for: stores that need to talk to the rest of the company's systems.

3. Artich

Artich is a certified French agency on the main platform and its enterprise tier, positioning explicitly on demanding environments and on brands that want to last rather than launch. The framing is about durability, which is the right conversation for a company that will still be running this store in five years.

Best for: established brands rebuilding a store meant to last.

4. Soledis

Soledis works from Vannes and Nantes across two e-commerce platforms, serving both B2B and consumer commerce, and adds web marketing, data, AI services and art direction to the build. Covering B2B and B2C properly is rarer than it sounds: the pricing rules, the account structures and the ordering journeys are genuinely different problems.

Best for: companies selling to businesses and consumers from the same catalogue.

Soledis covers two platforms plus marketing, data and creative work.

5. Maukau

Maukau specialises in the enterprise tier of the main platform and describes itself as a growth accelerator rather than a build shop, with internationalisation named as a specific expertise. Selling the same catalogue across several countries breaks more stores than any other requirement, and an agency that has done it repeatedly is worth the premium.

Best for: brands opening several country stores at once.

6. KNR Agency

KNR Agency works only with beauty, fashion and luxury brands, holds enterprise partner status on the main platform and certifications on a large commerce and marketing suite, and covers design and development, conversion optimisation and e-commerce marketing. In these categories the store is the brand, and a generalist build shows immediately.

Best for: beauty, fashion and luxury brands where presentation is the product.

KNR Agency concentrates on beauty, fashion and luxury e-commerce.

7. Dedi Agency

Dedi Agency has worked from Lyon since 2004 on e-commerce and digital marketing, naming the enterprise tier of the main platform, an open source B2B commerce framework and a CRM suite among its technologies, with B2B stated explicitly. Twenty years of continuity in this trade means having survived several platform generations.

Best for: B2B commerce projects with real process complexity.

8. Ecomiz

Ecomiz is a deep specialist on the main open source e-commerce platform, with sixteen years on it, top level expert certification and a stated quality certification for its e-commerce training. Plenty of profitable French stores run on that platform and have no reason to move, and they need an agency that treats it as a first class choice rather than a legacy problem.

Best for: established stores staying on their current open source platform.

9. Pikka

Pikka is a certified agency on the main platform and its enterprise tier, focused on the creation and the optimisation of stores, and leaning on client recommendation as its main argument. The scope is narrow and clearly stated, which suits a company that wants a store built well and nothing else bundled in.

Best for: a clean, focused store build without a wider marketing mandate.

Pikka concentrates on creating and optimising stores on one platform.

10. W3lead

W3lead has worked in e-commerce since 2013 and been a certified partner since 2018, combining store creation, interface design, conversion optimisation and email marketing in one team. For a smaller brand, having the store and the retention channel handled by the same people removes an entire coordination problem.

Best for: smaller brands that need the store and the email programme together.

Two adjacent questions have their own rankings: the 10 best CRO and conversion agencies in France and the 10 best email marketing and CRM agencies in France.

What to check before you sign

Three questions decide whether the project ships on time.

1. Who owns the code and the accounts? The store, the theme code and the platform subscription must be in your name. This is standard practice and worth confirming anyway.

2. What happens on the day after launch? Agree the maintenance arrangement before the build starts: who fixes what, in how long, and at what rate. Stores break at the worst possible moment, which is during a sale.

3. Who is responsible for the data migration? Products, customers, orders, reviews and redirect rules. The redirect map in particular is the difference between keeping your search traffic and losing it for six months.

The traffic problem no store build solves

A new store converts better than the old one. It does not bring more people. That distinction is where a great many e-commerce budgets go quietly wrong: the site is rebuilt, the conversion rate improves, and the revenue barely moves because the number of visitors did not.

The visitors have to come from somewhere that is not an advertising auction, or the margin goes to the platforms. In practice that means pages answering what buyers ask before they choose a product, found through search and increasingly quoted by assistants when someone asks which brand to buy.

That is what Sorank automates. It is software, not an agency: keyword research, article writing, internal linking, publishing to your site and tracking how often you appear in the answers AI assistants give. Pricing starts at 99€ per month, with 3 days offered and a card required at sign up. If you would rather talk it through first, book a call.

Conclusion

If you want one recommendation: Axome or Lobstter for a complex build or migration, KNR Agency if you sell beauty, fashion or luxury and the store has to look like the brand, and Ecomiz if your current open source store works and the last thing you need is a migration.

And settle the redirect map before anything is rebuilt. It is the cheapest line in the project and the one that quietly costs the most when it is forgotten.

Frequently questions asked

What does a Shopify partner level actually mean?

Partner tiers are awarded by the platform based on the volume and quality of work an agency delivers on it, so a high tier tells you the agency has shipped many stores and has a direct line to the platform when something breaks. It does not tell you whether they understand your category, your logistics or your margin structure. Use it as a filter, then judge on the projects they show you in your sector.

How much does a Shopify store cost in France?

A theme based store with light customisation sits at the low end, a bespoke build with custom features, complex catalogue logic and third party integrations costs several times that, and a migration from another platform depends almost entirely on how messy the existing data is. The most useful thing to ask for is a breakdown separating design, development, integrations and data migration, because that is where estimates diverge.

Should you migrate from another platform to Shopify?

Migrate when the current platform is genuinely blocking you: unreliable performance, an unsustainable maintenance bill, or features you cannot get without heavy development. Do not migrate because the interface looks nicer. Agencies on this list work across several platforms, and the honest ones will tell you when your existing store is fine and the problem is elsewhere in the funnel.

Our clients' case studies

I specialized in GEO thanks to Sorank. The GEO Leaderboard allows me to show my clients their position vs competitors on ChatGPT. It’s a real commercial differentiator.

I’m a developer, not a marketer. My Shopify theme was selling only through word-of-mouth and ads. With Sorank I finally understood how to structure my SEO and write articles to rank. The audit showed my product page was too slow. In 2 months, my organic traffic doubled and I’m starting to appear in ChatGPT answers when people search for Shopify themes. All of that with about 2 hours per week.

I manage our dealership’s website and it had dozens of issues: slow pages, 404 errors, missing tags. We were losing rankings every month without understanding why. The Sorank audit detected everything in 5 minutes. I sent the report to our web provider with the priority fixes. We regained our rankings and traffic picked back up. Perfect for someone non-technical like me!

I’m a CMO for a SaaS and I manage acquisition in a very competitive market. We were investing heavily in our product but not working on our SEO. No visibility on our real competitors, no tracking of our presence in AI. Sorank showed us our positioning vs competitors, which keywords to target, and GEO opportunities we had completely ignored!

We are an Ads agency and we wanted to get our SEO back on track once and for all. Sorank gave us a clear view of our site, helped us prioritize optimizations, and properly structure our content. The tool is easy to use, well designed for a team, and very practical for centralizing tracking without having to juggle multiple platforms. A very solid foundation to start fresh with our SEO.

For 2 years, 100% of my clients came from LinkedIn. Posting daily, commenting, DM follow-ups… totally dependent on the algorithm. I knew I needed to work on SEO but always postponed it: too long, too technical, not my job. With Sorank, I finally took the step. In 4 months, I generate 15 organic leads per month without posting anything. It’s not 50/50 with LinkedIn yet, but I sleep better knowing I now have a second lead source growing on autopilot.
