PR software: our 2027 ranking of 10 tools (Cision, Meltwater, Prezly...) based on the journalist database, distribution, media monitoring and prices.

A press release is only as good as the list it goes out to. PR software plays three roles: finding the journalists who cover your topic, sending them your announcements from an online newsroom, then logging the articles that come out of it. Here are the ten tools we pick for 2026, with, for each one, what the vendor says it does, the prices when it shows them, and the points to get clarified before signing.
The pool of French journalists is narrower than the figures platforms display. According to the report published by the Commission de la carte d'identité des journalistes professionnels (the body that issues France's official press card), 34,784 press cards were issued in 2025, a number down 0.5% year on year. Freelancers make up 12.3% of journalists holding the card.
On the vendor side, Cision advertises more than 850,000 journalist, blogger and influencer contacts, and Mynewsdesk more than a million journalists in its global database. These totals also count bloggers and influencers (Cision) or cover the whole world (Mynewsdesk): they say little about your market. The useful question for you: how many of these records match the French, regional or trade newsrooms you are targeting, and how often are they updated?
The second issue is legal. A journalist record contains personal data. To send its press releases, the CNIL, France's data protection authority, uses Cision's "Hors Antenne" database and its own press contact database. It lists the data kept on each journalist (identity, email addresses, social media accounts, phone numbers, job titles, favorite topics) and lets people unsubscribe or request access and correction, from Cision or from the CNIL. Good software helps you keep these commitments on every send.
To order these ten tools, we used only the pages published by each vendor (home, features, pricing), read in October 2026. We subscribed to no paid plan and have no partnership with these vendors. Four criteria guided the order:
1. The journalist database. Does the tool give access to a media contact database, how does it describe it, and does it say who keeps it up to date?
2. Distribution and the online newsroom. Can you write, send and host your press releases in one place, and see who opens them?
3. Coverage measurement. Does the tool log the articles you earn, across which media (web, print, radio, television, podcasts) and with what reports?
4. How readable the offer is for a French buyer. French-language site, published prices or quote only, stated commitment period.
The global leaders come first because they cover all three jobs at once. The more specialized tools follow: they do fewer things, but some publish their prices and are a better fit for a small team.
Cision brings journalist databases, press release distribution, media monitoring and coverage analysis together on one platform. Its LuQi tool is used to identify journalists and media outlets in France, distribute press releases and build press reviews and clipping reports; the vendor advertises more than 850,000 journalist and media contacts, updated daily by researchers, with editorial calendars included. CisionOne adds media and social media monitoring, and Europresse, a content aggregator, serves for news monitoring. The former datapresse.com site redirects to cision.fr.
Among the four areas of its offer, alongside media relations, monitoring and analytics, Cision also includes tracking of how the brand appears in answers from ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, called Cision AI Monitor.
Best for: communications teams at SMEs, large companies or agencies that want to run their database, distribution and monitoring from one tool.
Strengths: a contact database kept up to date by researchers, with editorial calendars; an institutional database of political, public-sector and business decision-makers; built-in social listening, from Brandwatch.
Limitations: no price is published, and each offer is put together on quote; the site mentions no free trial, and access goes through a demo or a quote request.
Pricing: on quote; the vendor promises a reply from an expert within 24 hours.

The Meltwater platform is aimed at PR, communications and marketing managers. It combines media monitoring, social listening, media relations (finding the right journalists, personalizing pitches, showing the impact of PR) and influencer marketing. Its feature list also mentions a media database, press distribution, real-time alerts and PR reports.
Among the building blocks you can pick in each plan, there is also tracking of how AI platforms present your organization.
Best for: teams that want to follow the press and social media on one platform, from the small communications team to the international group.
Strengths: four plans (Essentiel, Pro, Grandes Entreprises, Agences) with an assistant called Mira AI; 24/7 support via chat, email and help center, with an assigned account manager; API and MCP connections (technical gateways to your other tools and AI assistants) in the Grandes Entreprises and Agences plans.
Limitations: no self-service free trial, only a demo; most contracts last at least 12 months; setup fees may apply for complex deployments.
Pricing: custom, depending on the solutions chosen, coverage, data volume, number of users, integrations and level of support.

Onclusive targets PR, communications and marketing professionals. Its unified platform brings together a single monitoring view of earned coverage, your own content and social media, a media contact database with a built-in CRM (the file where you keep the history of exchanges with each journalist), online newsroom management and coverage analytics. An events database helps you time your announcements around upcoming news.
Best for: in-house communications teams, PR agencies and public bodies that want a single contract and a single support team for all their tools.
Strengths: a modular approach, from self-service to services managed by dedicated teams; advertised coverage of print, web, radio, television, podcasts and more than 25 social platforms, including LinkedIn and TikTok; GDPR compliance asserted by the vendor.
Limitations: prices are not stated: the FAQ talks about flexible pricing based on coverage and services, with plans for small teams, agencies and large companies; access goes through a demo request.
Pricing: prices not published.

With Prezly, a PR team publishes its announcements in a branded newsroom, sends them to its press contacts and links each story to the coverage it earned. The sending tool lets you embed a full press release, videos or images in the message, then see opens and clicks in real time. A contact manager keeps the history of each relationship, and a reporting module logs the coverage.
Best for: solo communicators, small in-house teams and small agencies that want to get going fast with a budget known in advance.
Strengths: a 14-day free trial with no credit card; free migration from your old tool; more than 200 free templates for pitches to journalists; a send history per sender, so two colleagues do not pitch the same journalist.
Limitations: the site is in English, with no French version; the Essential plan is limited to one user and 5,000 contacts, and sending from your own domain only appears from the Standard plan.
Pricing: Essential at €100 excl. VAT per month billed annually or €150 excl. VAT billed monthly, Standard at €250 excl. VAT or €300 excl. VAT; Enterprise custom. Amounts published in euros on the English-language site. Price checked on October 10, 2026.

Agility PR Solutions combines a media database, distribution, media monitoring, social listening and coverage analysis. Its PR CoPilot assistant turns your key messages into press releases and pitch emails, helps find the best-suited contacts and summarizes the articles it picks up. Monitoring covers the web, print, broadcast, podcasts and social media.
Best for: PR and communications teams, from small organizations to agencies, that want an AI to prepare first drafts.
Strengths: a press release distribution service with no word limit; managed services for complex needs (executive reports, crisis management); one-off services, such as a single send of a press release to a selection of journalists, followed by two open and click reports.
Limitations: the site is in English, with no French version; no price is published, and you need to fill in a form to get a proposal.
Pricing: on request, depending on your goals.

Create, distribute and measure your press releases: that is the program Mynewsdesk announces. The release reaches journalists through automatic targeting, then can be shared in one click in the newsroom, by email and on social media; the tool then shows opens and clicks. Monitoring tracks brand mentions in the news, on social media, in audio and in video, with real-time alerts and reports on share of voice and sentiment.
Best for: communicators who publish a few key announcements a year and want to start without any commitment.
Strengths: a 10-day free trial; an Essential plan bought by the month and cancellable at any time, which also lets you send a single press release; a matchmaking tool that shows the articles and topics each journalist has already covered.
Limitations: the site exists in Danish, German, English, Norwegian and Swedish, with no French version; the Essential plan includes 4 press releases per year, one monitored brand and one market, and the full journalist database comes with the PR Distribution offer, on quote.
Pricing: Essential from €220 per month, published in euros on the English-language site, VAT treatment not stated; PR Distribution and Media monitoring plans on request. Price checked on October 10, 2026.

Business Wire distributes press releases and investor information. Its support and editorial teams work with you on the text, then send it to lists targeted by location, industry and demographic segment. An analytics platform then tracks the release's reach. The site details offers for public relations, investor relations, agencies and companies preparing an IPO.
Best for: listed companies or those heading for a listing, and teams distributing announcements to an international audience.
Strengths: each release includes editorial review by experts, a color logo, financial tables and customer service available 24 hours a day; trade press can be added to the distribution; a site and a pricing page in French.
Limitations: payment is per release or through a custom plan, and the price rises with distribution options, word count and multimedia content; the site presents a distribution service and mentions no tool for managing your press contacts yourself.
Pricing: pay per release, from $475 for 400 words with local distribution, amount shown in dollars on the French-language pricing page (VAT treatment not stated), price checked on October 10, 2026; custom plan on quote.

Wiztrust combines online newsrooms, a CRM, an email sending system, news feeds, social media integration and press reviews in one PR management platform. Its CRM is the central point for journalist contacts, media databases, relations with other stakeholders and distribution campaigns: you keep journalist records there, segment lists by topic or outlet, and every interaction (published article, call, email, event, interview) stays visible before the next contact. The former wiztopic.com site redirects to wiztrust.com.
Best for: communications teams at large groups, listed companies and financial services firms that also manage their investor relations.
Strengths: a site in French; a secure media library for press releases, press kits, logos, annual reports, photos and videos, with rights protection; Wiztrust Protect, which certifies company information by blockchain to guarantee its authenticity; migration of databases of more than 25,000 contacts handled during onboarding.
Limitations: no price is published, and access goes through a demo request; ask during the demo for the number of contacts in the media database and the countries covered; the tool is designed first and foremost for large organizations.
Pricing: prices not published.

PR.co is built around an online newsroom and an editing tool (PR CMS), designed for large communications teams working across several countries, teams or brands. Logged articles are enriched automatically and their sentiment is analyzed by AI.
Best for: teams managing several brands or markets, PR agencies, the public sector and NGOs.
Strengths: a Start plan available by the month; ISO 27001 certification (an information security standard) announced on October 7, 2026; a service for press lists built by hand by an expert, ready in about five business days.
Limitations: the site is in English, with no French version; when asked about media databases, PR.co answers with targeted lists built by hand, to order; media monitoring is a paid option on top of the subscription.
Pricing: prices not published. The Start, Scale and Enterprise plans differ by number of users, markets, languages, contacts and emails sent per month.

Roxhill Media gives access, with a single login, to a media database, coverage monitoring, analysis of your spokespeople's presence and research carried out by its analysts. Its database goes beyond contact details: biography, social media posts and each journalist's preferences on how to be pitched. Its Journalist Assistant gives an instant overview of what a journalist is looking for before you reach out.
Best for: PR teams that put internal experts forward and want to compare their share of voice with their competitors'.
Strengths: building press lists in a few clicks; automatic filing of each logged article into folders; tailored newsletters to keep your stakeholders informed.

1. How much of the database covers your media. Ask how many contacts relate to the French, regional or trade press in your sector, and who updates them. Cision advertises a daily update by researchers; Wiztrust advises limiting each campaign to around 1,000 recipients, split into lists by topic, area or type of outlet. Run a test search on three publications you are targeting during the demo.
2. Unsubscribe handling. Check that a journalist who unsubscribes disappears from all your sends, including your imported lists. Mynewsdesk points out that the customer remains responsible for lawful processing of its contact list: ask how the tool helps you with that.
3. Commitment period and extra fees. Meltwater states that most of its contracts last at least 12 months and that setup fees may be added; Mynewsdesk sells its Essential plan by the month, and PR.co its Start plan. Have the end date and cancellation terms written into the quote.
4. The address of your newsroom and your sends. Check whether your press releases go out from your own domain (at Prezly, from the Standard plan) and whether the newsroom can live on your site (PR Distribution offer at Mynewsdesk, hosting in a subdirectory with PR.co's Enterprise plan).
5. The media the monitoring actually tracks. Print, radio, television, podcasts, paywalled content: the list changes from one vendor to the next and from one plan to the next. At Mynewsdesk, the searchable history goes from 3 months to 2 years depending on the offer.
A journalist database ages fast: people change newsrooms, beats or status. We sent no press release with these tools and did not measure the accuracy of their contacts. This ranking relies on each vendor's public pages, read in October 2026, and a few sites protected against bots could not be read in full. That is the case for Muck Rack, which we therefore do not rank.
The scope covers journalist databases, press release distribution and online newsrooms. Pure monitoring tools belong in a separate comparison. We also set aside press release distribution services that sell themselves first on search rankings or links, a line of work close to Sorank's.
Your situation counts for more than the rank: a listed company, a startup going after the tech press and a local authority do not have the same needs. If you would rather hand your press relations to specialists, see our ranking of PR agencies. We will reread these sites and update this page when the offers change.
PR software helps you land articles and measure them. A future client, meanwhile, also puts the question straight to Google or ChatGPT on the day they look for a provider. To show up in those answers, your own site benefits from publishing pages that address their problem precisely, alongside your press coverage.
That is the work Sorank automates. Sorank's GEO software analyzes your visibility in AI assistants and on Google, writes articles for your site optimized for AI assistants, publishes them, then tells you when an AI cites you, prompt by prompt. Articles can stay as drafts in your CMS while you review them.
Want to know what AI assistants answer today when someone looks for a company like yours? Book a call to talk it over with us.
The right PR software depends first on the size of your team and the media you target. The full suites bundle database, distribution and monitoring on quote, and at Meltwater most contracts last at least 12 months. Prezly and Mynewsdesk publish their prices in euros and offer a free trial, with a narrower scope.
Three recommendations depending on your profile. For a French communications team that wants a journalist database, distribution and monitoring in one place, start with Cision. For a small team that wants a polished newsroom, tracked sends and a budget known from the start, test Prezly during its 14-day trial. For a listed company distributing financial results or preparing an IPO, ask Business Wire for a quote.

It all depends on the media you target and your budget. Prezly and Mynewsdesk publish their prices and offer a free trial (14 days at Prezly, 10 days at Mynewsdesk). Cision also offers solutions for very small businesses and SMEs, on quote. Presscloud targets SMEs too, but its connected journalists are Dutch and Belgian.
Seven of the ten vendors in this ranking show no amount, including Cision, Meltwater and Onclusive. Among the others (prices checked on October 10, 2026): Prezly from €100 excl. VAT per month billed annually, Mynewsdesk from €220 per month, and Business Wire shows a starting price of $475 per 400-word press release with local distribution. Always ask about the commitment period and any setup fees.
Yes, with several vendors. Mynewsdesk lets you send a single press release with its Essential plan, a monthly subscription you can cancel at any time, and Business Wire charges per release. Agility PR Solutions also offers a one-off send of a press release to a selection of journalists.
