In short

for a broad digital marketing program, the biggest names over the next twelve months are Web Summit in Lisbon (November 2026), SXSW in Austin (March 2027), Adobe Summit in Las Vegas (March 2027), Cannes Lions (June 2027), HubSpot's UNBOUND in Boston (September 2027) and DMEXCO in Cologne (September 2027). For AI applied to marketing, MAICON in Cleveland is the most focused event; in Europe, OMR Festival in Hamburg and All4Customer Paris are the main gatherings in German and French.

A marketing conference is worth its price when it changes how your team works for the following year: new methods, contacts with peers, a clearer view of where the market is going. In 2026 and 2027, almost every agenda turns around the same subject, the use of AI in marketing and the way AI assistants change how buyers find brands. This ranking covers general marketing, advertising and martech events. Pure SEO events are in our separate ranking of SEO conferences.

The 10 best marketing conferences in 2026 and 2027

  1. Web Summit (Lisbon, Portugal, 9 - 12 November 2026): one of the largest tech and startup gatherings in Europe, with a strong marketing and media track.
  2. SXSW (Austin, US, 15 - 21 March 2027): technology, culture and brands, for marketers who want trends before they spread.
  3. Adobe Summit (Las Vegas, US, 22 - 25 March 2027): customer experience, data and content at scale, built around Adobe's tools.
  4. All4Customer Paris (Paris, France, 23 - 25 March 2027): one of the main French events for digital marketing, customer experience and e-commerce.
  5. Social Media Marketing World (Anaheim, US, 1 - 3 April 2027): social media and AI for small and mid-sized businesses.
  6. OMR Festival (Hamburg, Germany, 3 - 5 May 2027): one of Europe's largest digital marketing festivals.

  9. DMEXCO (Cologne, Germany, 22 - 23 September 2027): trade fair and conference for digital marketing, media and ad tech.
  10. MAICON (Cleveland, US, 5 - 7 October 2027): the conference dedicated to AI for marketers.

Why go to a marketing conference in 2026?

Three reasons justify the cost of a ticket, the travel and two or three days away. First, the pace of change: marketing tools, ad platforms and search are shifting with AI faster than most teams can test on their own, and conferences condense months of trial and error into case studies. Second, the network: a conversation with peers who have solved the same problem is often worth more than a keynote. Third, visibility for your brand when you speak, exhibit or sponsor, a form of event marketing in its own right.

The cost is real, though: a pass at a large event ranges from a few hundred to more than two thousand dollars before travel and hotel. Choosing two or three events that match your goals beats attending everything.

How did we choose these conferences?

In October 2026, we read each organizer's official website and kept only events whose next edition, after 19 October 2026, had confirmed dates. We bought no ticket and no organizer is a partner. Four criteria guided the selection:

  1. Relevance for marketing teams: content, digital, advertising, customer experience, AI for marketing.
  2. Confirmed dates and place on the official site.
  3. Size and program quality, as described by the organizer.
  4. Geographic spread: United States and Europe, with French and German-speaking options.

Prices are those displayed on the official site at the time of reading; most events raise them as the date approaches.

The 10 best marketing conferences: the profiles

1. Web Summit

Web Summit gathers founders, investors, tech companies, media and marketers for four days in Lisbon. Its marketing content mixes brand, media, creator economy and AI talks with a very large exhibition area.

Best for: marketers in tech, startups and media who want trends, partners and investors in one place.

Watch out: very large and broad; plan which stages and meetings matter before you arrive.

2. SXSW

South by Southwest, in Austin, combines conferences, music and film. Its Innovation track covers technology, AI, brands, media and culture, which makes it a place to spot trends early.

Next dates: 15 - 21 March 2027 in Austin, Texas (official site, checked October 2026).

Best for: brand, creative and agency teams, and media buyers.

Watch out: one of the most expensive weeks of the year once accommodation is included.

8. UNBOUND (formerly INBOUND)

HubSpot replaced INBOUND, its flagship event for fifteen years, with UNBOUND, aimed at marketing, sales and customer teams ("go-to-market"), with more than 200 sessions over three days.

Next dates: 8 - 10 September 2027 in Boston, according to the UNBOUND website (checked October 2026).

Price: General Admission at $1,699; the presale was sold out and registration reopens on Cyber Monday (30 November 2026).

How do you choose the right marketing conference?

  1. Start from a goal: learning a skill, meeting partners, finding a vendor, recruiting or speaking. Each goal points to a different type of event.
  2. Read the program, not the headline speakers: count the sessions that match your channels and your level.
  3. Calculate the full cost: pass, travel, hotel and days away, then compare it with what one good idea or contact would bring.
  4. Book early: most passes rise in price as the date approaches.
  5. Plan the follow-up: a written summary shared with the team turns a trip into a decision.

If travel is not possible, podcasts and newsletters keep you current at no cost: see our selections of the best SEO podcasts, the best SEO newsletters and the best SEO and digital marketing blogs.

How do you get the most out of a marketing conference?

Before the event, choose three questions you want answered and book meetings with exhibitors or peers. During the event, prioritize case studies with figures over generic keynotes, and talk to speakers after their session. After the event, write one page of takeaways within a week and decide what you will test. For companies that exhibit, a conference is also a channel of field marketing and experiential marketing: plan lead capture and follow-up emails before the doors open.

Where does this ranking stop?

We did not attend every event in person and did not rate speakers. Several well-known conferences were left out because their next edition had no confirmed date on the official site when we checked, or because the official site could not be read (see the mentions below). Dates and prices can change: the official site remains the reference.

What will marketing conferences talk about in 2027?

AI is the common thread: content production, campaign automation, AI agents, measurement, and the way buyers now ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity for recommendations. That last point changes marketing as much as search engines did: a brand absent from AI answers loses part of its consideration. Our study of AI citations in marketing shows which sources these assistants rely on in this sector, and our guide to digital marketing strategies places these changes in a wider plan.

Conclusion

One recommendation per profile: Web Summit or SXSW for trends and partners, Adobe Summit or UNBOUND for enterprise and B2B teams on those platforms, MAICON to deploy AI in marketing, Cannes Lions for creative and brand teams, and OMR Festival or All4Customer Paris for German and French-speaking markets. Pick two, prepare them, and share what you learn with your team.

Between two events, our SEO and GEO newsletter keeps you informed. And while you travel, Sorank, our product, keeps publishing optimized articles on your site and, with AI mention tracking, shows whether AI assistants cite your brand.

Frequently asked questions

What is the biggest marketing conference in the world?

By attendance, the largest events that include marketing are festivals and trade shows such as SXSW in Austin, Web Summit in Lisbon and OMR Festival in Hamburg, which reported 70,000 attendees in 2026. For advertising specifically, Cannes Lions is the reference. Each counts attendees differently, so compare programs rather than headline figures.

Are marketing conferences worth the money?

They are worth it when you go with a clear goal: a skill to learn, partners or vendors to meet, or a brand to promote. Count the full cost, including travel, hotel and time away, and plan a written summary and follow-up actions afterwards. Without preparation and follow-up, most of the value is lost within a few weeks.

Are there free marketing conferences?

Yes, mostly online. The MarTech Conference, for example, is a free virtual event, and many vendors run free webinars and online summits. In-person conferences are rarely free, although some trade shows offer free visitor badges for the exhibition area when you register in advance.
