The best local SEO tools in 2027 compared: Google Business Profile, BrightLocal, Semrush Local, Whitespark, Moz Local, Yext, Partoo and more, with real prices.

In short
the best local SEO tools in 2027 start with two free Google products, Google Business Profile and Google Search Console, which every local business should set up before paying for anything. For a paid all-in-one tool, BrightLocal is the most complete choice for a small business or an agency, Semrush Local suits teams already on Semrush who want AI to run their profile, Whitespark is the specialist for citations and map grids, Moz Local is the simplest listings tool per location, and Yext and Partoo serve large multi-location networks on quotes. None of them writes your local content or tells you whether ChatGPT recommends you; that is the gap Sorank covers.

Transparency: Sorank is our own software. I ranked these tools on the criteria a local business decides on (listing management, citations and NAP consistency, reviews, map rank tracking by zone, multi-location support and price), using the features and prices each company publishes on its own website, checked in October 2026. Sorank sits in eighth place because it does not manage Google Business Profiles at all, and I say so in its entry.
Best local SEO tools are the software that helps a business appear in the Google local pack, in Google Maps and in the answers AI assistants give to questions like "best plumber in Lyon". Google states that local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence, and every tool in this list works on one or more of those three levers: making the business information complete and consistent (relevance), measuring rankings from different points of a city (distance), and growing reviews and mentions (prominence). If the vocabulary is new to you, our glossary entry on local SEO sets out the basics.
I scored each tool on six criteria chosen before looking at who wins them, because they are the decisions a local business owner or an agency faces when choosing software:
Every price below was read on the vendor's own pricing page in October 2026. When a company does not publish a price, I write "on quote" instead of repeating figures from third-party blogs.
What it does. Google Business Profile is the listing that appears in Google Search and Google Maps when someone looks for a business or a service nearby. Google states that creating a Business Profile and listing your business is free. From the profile you set categories, hours, services, photos and attributes, publish posts, reply to reviews and see how customers found you.
Who it is for. Every business with a physical location or a service area, with no exception. Every paid tool in this list either reads or edits this profile.
Limits. It manages one platform only, shows no rankings, and gives no view of the directories, review sites or AI answers where your business also appears. Its rules are strict: Google's guidelines for representing your business require your real-world business name, without added keywords, and a breach can get the profile suspended.
Price. Free.
What it does. BrightLocal groups local rank tracking, a local search grid, citation tracking, profile audits, listing synchronisation and review management in one interface, with plans per location.
Key features. The Track plan includes a Local Rank Tracker (up to 100 keywords and four competitors), a Local Search Grid (up to five keywords), a Citation Tracker, a Google Business Profile audit, a Local Search Audit and a Local AI Visibility Tracker. Manage adds Active Sync, which keeps business details synchronised on key sites, and a post scheduler. Grow adds review monitoring across several sites, review requests by email, SMS and in store, and a review widget. Citation Builder, which submits your business to directories, is sold separately on a pay-as-you-go basis, from $3.20 per site and as low as $2 with bulk credits.
Price. For one location: Track $41 per month, Manage $54 per month, Grow $65 per month, or $31, $40 and $49 per month billed annually. Multi-location tiers go up to 250 locations, with pricing on request beyond. 14-day free trial.
Verdict. The widest coverage of the six criteria for the price of a single location. I would start here if you want one tool for rankings, citations and reviews.
What it does. Semrush Local is the local toolkit of the Semrush suite. It can be added to an existing Semrush subscription or bought on its own.
Key features. Local Base includes the GBP AI Agent, which audits the profile, generates and publishes posts, auto-replies to reviews and posts photos, plus the Map Rank Tracker with 375 credits for geo-grid tracking. Local Pro adds listing management across more than 70 directories, review management and generation, advanced profile management and 1,225 Map Rank Tracker credits.
Price. Base $30 per month per location and Pro $60 per month per location, billed annually, with a Business plan on quote for larger organisations. Semrush offers a seven-day free trial.
Verdict. The most automated profile management in this list. If your team already uses Semrush for keyword research, adding Local keeps everything in one account.
What it does. Whitespark is a local SEO company that sells each product separately rather than as a bundle, so you pay only for what you use. It also publishes the Local Search Ranking Factors survey, whose 2026 edition is out.
Key features. The Local Citation Finder compares the citations of your top-ranked competitors against yours and shows the gaps. Local Ranking Grids measure positions on up to 225 geographic points. The Local Rank Tracker follows local packs, Maps and organic results on Google and Bing. The Local Platform protects Google Business Profiles from unwanted edits and edits locations in bulk. Reputation Builder automates review requests. A done-for-you listings service handles citation building.
Price. In US dollars: Local Platform $1 per month per location, Local Ranking Grids from $10 per month, Local Rank Tracker from $14 per month billed annually ($17 monthly) up to $200, Local Citation Finder $33 to $149 per month, Reputation Builder $79 per month per location, and the listings service $20 to $999 as a one-time fee. The Local Rank Tracker comes with a 14-day free trial.
Verdict. The best tool for citation research. On criterion 2 it beats every all-in-one suite in this list.
What it does. Moz Local distributes a business's information to directories and monitors listings and reviews, with a price per location.
Key features. The Lite plan includes Local Grid map pack tracking, distribution to more than 90 listing directories, review monitoring and data health analytics. Preferred adds review responses, review sentiment analysis, competitor tracking and social posting. Elite includes the Listings AI add-on and more advanced social and reporting features. Listings AI ($14 per month) and Reviews AI ($10 per month) are optional add-ons on the lower plans.
Price. Per location: Lite $20 per month, Preferred $30, Elite $40, or $16, $24 and $33 per month billed yearly.
Verdict. The clearest per-location pricing in this list. Choose it when the job is to publish the same, correct information everywhere and watch reviews, without a large tool to learn.
What it does. Yext is a platform for multi-location brands. Its products cover listings, a knowledge graph of business information, reviews, social publishing, local landing pages, site search and Scout, which monitors visibility in AI search and tracks competitors.
Who it is for. Yext states itself that it is built for large multi-location enterprises and that smaller businesses are better served through its reseller partners.
Price. On quote. Yext explains that its price depends on the number of locations, the solution chosen and the contract length, that billing is annual, and that there is no free plan and no standard free trial.
Verdict. Relevant when you manage hundreds of locations and need local pages and AI visibility monitoring in the same contract. Oversized for a single shop.
What it does. Partoo is a Paris-based platform for businesses with many locations. Presence Management distributes information to Google, Apple and Partoo's partner platforms and tracks the distribution in real time. Review Management centralises Google, Facebook and Tripadvisor reviews, with AI-suggested and automatic replies. Review Booster asks customers for Google reviews by SMS or QR code. Partoo also offers messaging (SMS, Messenger, WhatsApp Business), a store locator, competitive intelligence and an AI chatbot.
Who it is for. National brands and franchise networks, with a separate offer for small businesses. Partoo states that 350,000 points of sale use its platform, and names clients such as Carrefour, Leroy Merlin and Club Med.
Price. On quote, for both small businesses and large companies.
Verdict. A strong choice for a European network that wants listings, reviews and customer messages handled by a French-speaking team.
What it does. Sorank is an SEO and GEO software on autopilot. It reads your website, creates the questions your customers ask AI assistants, such as "best dentist in Geneva", and asks them every week to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini (plus Perplexity and Grok on Pro and Business) to see whether your business is mentioned and who is cited instead. It then finds your competitors on Google and in AI answers, extracts their keywords, fills an editorial calendar, writes the articles (internal links, external sources, images, FAQ, meta tags, JSON-LD schema) and publishes them automatically to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix and other CMS.
What it does not do. Sorank does not manage Google Business Profiles, does not build citations, does not collect reviews and has no map grid. Use it next to one of the tools above, not instead of them. For an on-page check of any page, the free Sorank Chrome extension shows recommendations directly in the browser.
Who it is for. Local businesses whose competitors outrank them with content: city and service pages, guides, answers to the questions customers type before calling. We publish dedicated pages for trades such as plumbers and dentists.
Price. Essential $99 per month without commitment or $49 per month billed annually (20 articles per month, 25 AI prompts tracked), Pro $249 or $129, Business $499 or $249, excluding taxes. 3-day free trial and a 90-day money-back guarantee.
What it does. Search Console shows which queries display your website in Google, with clicks, impressions, average position and click-through rate, by page, country and device. For a local business, it reveals the city and service searches that already bring traffic to your location pages.
Limits. It measures your website only, not your Business Profile in Maps, and it does not filter by city.
Price. Free.
The table uses the six criteria above. Each cell reflects what the vendor publishes on its own website; "not published" means the vendor does not document the feature publicly.

Before buying, estimate what one extra customer a month is worth with our local SEO ROI calculator: a $30 tool pays for itself very differently for a dentist and for a bakery.
When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude for "the best plumber in Lyon", the assistant answers with a short list of names, and a business is either on it or invisible. In the local audits I ran, these lists draw on three families of sources: Google Business Profile data (categories, rating, number of reviews), review sites and directories, and the business's own pages when they contain facts a model can quote, such as services, areas covered, prices and response times.
Three practical consequences follow. First, consistency matters: the same name, address and phone number everywhere lets a model state facts about you with confidence. Second, review text counts as content: a review that names the service and the neighbourhood gives an assistant something to repeat, while "great job" gives it nothing. Third, your website needs pages that answer local questions directly. Google's documentation on LocalBusiness structured data explains how to describe hours, address and services in a machine-readable way.
Research on generative answers supports the content side: the Princeton study that defined generative engine optimisation found that GEO methods can boost visibility by up to 40% in generative responses, with citing sources, adding statistics and adding quotations among the most effective methods. Listing tools do not produce that content. To see which tools measure your presence in ChatGPT itself, read our comparison of the best ChatGPT tracking tools.
The software takes the repetitive work: pushing the same information to dozens of directories, checking rankings from 50 or 225 points of a city, sending review requests after each job, detecting a changed phone number on a listing, writing and publishing local articles. The business owner or the agency keeps the decisions: which categories to choose, how to answer a negative review, which services and areas to prioritise, and how to recover a suspended profile. No tool replaces the photos you take on site or the customer who decides to leave a detailed review.
Set up Google Business Profile and Search Console first, then add BrightLocal if you want one paid tool for rankings, citations and reviews, Whitespark if citations are the priority, and Yext or Partoo if you run a large network. Then close the content gap: local pages and articles that answer the questions customers ask Google and AI assistants. Sorank writes and publishes them automatically and tracks whether ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini recommend you; see the plans and start the 3-day free trial on the Sorank pricing page.
Google Business Profile is the best free local SEO tool, because it is the listing Google itself shows in Maps and in the local pack, and creating and managing it costs nothing. Pair it with Google Search Console, also free, to see which searches bring visitors to your website. Paid tools only become useful once these two are set up and complete.
In October 2026, entry prices for one location range from about $10 to $41 per month: Whitespark Local Ranking Grids start at $10 per month, Moz Local Lite at $20 per month (or $16 billed yearly), Semrush Local Base at $30 per month per location billed annually and BrightLocal Track at $41 per month. Yext and Partoo work on quotes. Multi-location businesses pay per location, so the bill grows with the network.
A single location with a complete profile can go a long way with Google Business Profile and Search Console alone. A paid tool becomes worth it when you need to track map rankings across a whole city, clean up inconsistent listings on dozens of directories, collect reviews at scale or manage several locations. Choose the tool for the problem you actually have.
