The organic traffic value calculator above tells you, in euros or your local currency, how much your monthly organic clicks would cost if you had to pay for them through Google Ads or another paid channel. It is a quick and effective way to communicate the financial weight of your SEO to stakeholders, clients or finance teams who think in budget terms rather than ranking metrics. Use the calculator at the top of this page: enter your monthly organic clicks and the average CPC in your niche, and the result appears instantly.

How is organic traffic value calculated?

The formula is direct and uses just two inputs:

  • Monthly traffic value = monthly organic clicks x average cost per click (CPC)
  • Annual traffic value = monthly traffic value x 12

Example: 5000 organic clicks per month, average CPC of 1.20€ in your niche. Monthly traffic value: 5000 x 1.20 = 6000€. Annual traffic value: 72000€. This means that if your SEO disappeared overnight, you would need to spend 6000€/month on paid ads to replace the same volume of clicks.

The average CPC to use comes from your Google Ads keyword planner, your Search Console data or an SEO tool. If you are unsure, start with the default and adjust it to your industry. CPCs vary widely: a click in the legal or finance sector can cost 5€ to 20€, while a click on a generic informational topic may be worth 0.20€.

How to interpret and use this number

  • Report SEO value to management: frame your SEO programme as an asset generating a monthly equivalent media value. A 6000€/month traffic value is a compelling number when your SEO budget is 1500€/month.
  • Compare with your SEO spend: if your SEO investment is lower than the traffic value it generates, you are operating at a positive media multiple. If the inverse is true, revisit your keyword targeting or traffic strategy.
  • Identify high-value keyword clusters: segment your traffic by keyword type using Search Console. High-CPC keywords (commercial, transactional) carry far more value per click than generic informational ones. Prioritise them in your content and link-building roadmap.
  • Use it to benchmark a potential acquisition or partnership: comparing a competitor's estimated traffic value against their domain authority gives a quick proxy for the SEO asset value of any site.
  • Account for AI Overviews impact: if a significant share of your traffic comes from queries where Google now shows AI-generated summaries, the effective click volume may decline. AI Overviews appear on around 31% of Google queries as of May 2025, and can reduce CTR substantially.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the average CPC for my niche?

The most reliable source is the Google Ads Keyword Planner (requires a free Google Ads account). You can also extract average CPC estimates from tools like Semrush or Ahrefs, or look at the CPC column in Google Search Console's performance report if you run paid campaigns alongside SEO.

Is organic traffic value the same as SEO ROI?

No. Traffic value measures the theoretical cost-replacement of your clicks (what you would pay in ads). ROI measures the actual revenue your SEO generates relative to its cost. Both metrics are useful but they answer different questions. Use the SEO ROI Calculator if you want the revenue and return figure.

My traffic value looks very high. Should I be spending more on SEO?

A high traffic value relative to your SEO budget is a good sign, but it is not a direct argument for increasing spend. What matters is whether that traffic converts and generates revenue. Combine the traffic value with your conversion rate and average order value to get the full picture.
