Table of contents

Looking for cold email software to prospect by email without damaging your domain's reputation? This ranking compares ten tools on what decides how a campaign performs: landing in the inbox, finding reliable contacts, following up at the right moment and knowing what you will pay. Each profile relies only on the pages the vendor makes public, viewed in October 2026, and the article ends with a comparison table and the questions to ask before you commit.

Why does your choice of cold email software matter in 2027?

Cold emailing a professional is allowed in France, under specific conditions. According to the CNIL, France's data protection authority, email prospecting aimed at professionals can rest on the company's legitimate interest when the message relates to the recipient's profession. That person must be informed and able to object simply and free of charge, and each message must state who is sending it.

Mailbox providers add their own technical requirements. On its sender guidelines page, Google has required since February 1, 2024 that anyone writing to Gmail accounts authenticate their domain with SPF or DKIM, two settings that prove to mailbox providers that you really are the sender, and keep their spam rate below 0.3%. Senders of more than 5,000 messages a day must also set up DMARC, a third setting that tells providers what to do with poorly authenticated messages. Google warns that non-compliant emails may not be delivered as expected or may be marked as spam.

Your software helps you follow these rules to a greater or lesser degree: domain setup, warm-up of new inboxes, spreading volume across several addresses, stopping follow-ups as soon as a prospect replies, a suppression list. A badly configured tool can get your messages filed as spam, and your domain's reputation suffers for it.

How did we rank these tools?

We used four criteria specific to email prospecting, applied only to the information vendors publish. In October 2026, we viewed each tool's homepage and pricing, plus its features page when one existed. No paid plan was tested for this ranking, and no partnership ties us to the vendors.

1. Built-in deliverability. Warm-up, inbox rotation, domain authentication checks, placement tests: what the tool does to get your emails into the inbox.

2. Finding and verifying contacts. Contact database, enrichment, address verification before sending.

3. Sequences and channels. Automatic follow-ups, conditions, stop on reply, and the channels available besides email (LinkedIn, phone, SMS, WhatsApp).

4. Clarity for a French buyer. French-language site, published prices, free trial, what is included and what is sold as an add-on.

We left out customer counts, reply rates and review scores shown on the sites: none of them can be verified from the outside.

The 10 best cold email software: the profiles

1. lemlist

lemlist brings together prospect search, multichannel outreach and deliverability monitoring. The tool enriches your contacts with verified emails and phone numbers drawn from several data providers, and offers its own database of more than 600 million contacts. Intent signal agents spot the moments when a prospect seems receptive and add them to a campaign automatically, with a tailored message.

Campaigns run from a single workflow across email, LinkedIn, phone, WhatsApp and SMS, and conversations land in one shared inbox. The Deliverability Hub tracks the health of your inboxes and domains and flags problems before they weigh on your results. lemwarm, the vendor's warm-up tool, is included in every plan.

Best for: teams that want a French-language interface, a large contact database and intent signals in the same tool as their campaigns.

Strengths: interface available in French, English, German and Spanish, with billing possible in euros; unlimited users and email senders from the Email plan, which includes 50,000 emails a month; more than 500 integrations announced, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Aircall and Ringover.

Limitations: LinkedIn, calls, SMS and WhatsApp belong to the Multichannel plan, whose FAQ presents SMS and WhatsApp as add-ons, and the Data add-ons (contact enrichment, buying signals) are billed on top. According to the FAQ on its AI page, lemlist AI retrieves data through your own OpenAI account, which you connect to lemlist.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site; 14-day free trial.

2. Instantly

Instantly combines a cold email sending platform, a B2B contact database, deliverability tools and an AI-assisted CRM. Its outreach page offers unlimited sending accounts on every plan, AI-written sequences and built-in warm-up, so you can spread volume across several domains and stay under spam thresholds.

SuperSearch gives access to 450 million verified B2B contacts, filterable by industry, job title, location and company size. Copilot writes sequences based on your product and your ideal customer, and replies arrive in Unibox, the unified inbox for all your sending accounts, with labels applied by AI. Campaigns can also include LinkedIn and webhooks.

Best for: teams that want the SuperSearch database, high-volume sending and a CRM under one roof, with as many sending accounts as they need.

Strengths: unlimited email accounts and warm-up from the Growth plan; contact database, AI writing and unified inbox in the same tool; campaign tracking down to opportunities, pipeline and revenue, with automatic pausing of campaigns that need rework.

Limitations: site and pricing in English only. Outreach and contact database credits are paid for separately, or in a bundled package, and the Growth plan caps at 1,000 imported contacts and 5,000 emails a month.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site.

3. Smartlead

Smartlead presents itself as cold email software for sales teams prospecting at scale. Its central argument is deliverability: unlimited sending inboxes, unlimited contact storage, and a tool that handles DNS setup, warm-up and sender rotation by itself. Warm-up runs through a private network that simulates real opens, reads and replies.

Around sending, Smartlead adds several modules: SmartSenders to buy Google, Outlook or SMTP inboxes, SmartProspect to find prospects verified against three independent sources, AI agents that write the emails, and SmartDialer for calling. The Master Inbox gathers replies from every campaign and every client, sorted automatically by intent. Sorank uses Smartlead for its own email campaigns.

Best for: agencies and teams that want to buy sending inboxes already configured inside the tool and handle replies for several clients from a single inbox.

Strengths: unlimited email accounts on every plan, with no per-inbox payment; domains and DNS settings, including SPF, DKIM and DMARC, configured automatically for inboxes supplied by the tool; free trial with no credit card.

Limitations: site and pricing in English only. Several components come at an extra charge: placement tests (SmartDelivery), dedicated servers (SmartServers), calls (SmartDialer) and purchased inboxes.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site. The vendor also sells a service where it runs all your prospecting for you (SmartServices).

4. Reply.io

Reply.io automates prospecting with conditional multichannel sequences: emails and follow-ups, LinkedIn steps, WhatsApp, SMS, calls, or any other channel connected through Zapier. Contact search draws on more than a billion contacts worldwide, with hiring intent and technographic signals, and an extension finds verified emails from LinkedIn and Gmail.

The vendor also offers Jason, an AI prospecting agent that handles everything from finding prospects to sending personalized messages and processing replies. For deliverability, its toolkit counts more than 30 features, including unlimited inboxes, an automated warm-up service, a domain health checker and integration with Google Postmaster.

Best for: teams that want to hand part of their prospecting to an AI agent, or add WhatsApp, SMS and calls to their email sequences.

Strengths: French-language site, including the pricing page; unlimited inboxes and warm-up on the Bulk Sending plan; meeting booking from within sequences and direct integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Copper and Close.

Limitations: the unlimited inboxes do have a limit, the number of active contacts per month (1,000 on the entry Bulk Sending plan), and on that plan LinkedIn as well as calls and SMS are paid add-ons per account. Prices are still shown in dollars on the French page.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site; 14-day free trial.

Reply.io offers two approaches: prospecting run by your sales reps or by its AI agent Jason.

5. Woodpecker

Woodpecker sends cold email and LinkedIn actions for companies that prospect. It combines prospect search in a database of more than a billion B2B contacts, address verification, cold email campaigns, LinkedIn steps (profile visits, invitations, messages, InMails) and follow-ups in a single flow.

Deliverability takes up a large share of its feature list: free warm-up, inbox rotation, a Deliverability Monitor that anticipates sending problems, Adaptive Sending that protects you from your provider's limits, a check for risky words, and an SPF and DKIM audit. Woodpecker also sells domains and addresses with SPF, DKIM and DMARC preconfigured.

Best for: teams that mostly send cold email and prefer to pay per prospect contacted, with an optional panel for managing several clients.

Strengths: email verification, team members and email accounts unlimited at no extra cost; automatic stop of follow-ups as soon as a prospect replies; GDPR compliance announced, with a dedicated feature to permanently erase data.

Limitations: site and pricing in English only. The same prospect added to five campaigns counts five times against the quota. Integrations and the API, LinkedIn accounts and the agency panel are paid add-ons, and automatic interest detection only tags replies written in English. The free trial ends after 14 days or 100 emails.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site, whose currency selector also offers the euro.

6. Emelia

Emelia groups prospect search, data enrichment, multichannel campaigns and reply management in one platform. You import a CSV, Excel or Google Sheets file, or pull contacts from Sales Navigator; the tool removes duplicates from your lists and finds business emails, phone numbers and LinkedIn profiles, with deliverability checks.

Campaigns mix email steps and LinkedIn actions in a visual editor, with A/B tests and conditions based on opens, clicks or replies. Emelia spreads sending across all your inboxes while respecting each account's daily limit, and warm-up is included at no extra cost. Email and LinkedIn replies arrive in a single inbox, where Magic Reply can draft them with AI.

Best for: small sales teams and French-speaking agencies that prospect by email and LinkedIn and want a price published in euros.

Strengths: prices in euros, on a site and pricing page in French; unlimited email sending and warm-up included, with the vendor stating that every plan includes the full toolkit; 7-day free trial with no credit card.

Limitations: the Start plan is limited to 3 email inboxes and one LinkedIn account. The site makes no mention of call, SMS or WhatsApp steps in sequences. Version 3 of the tool is announced as being in beta.

Pricing: Start at €37 a month, Grow at €97 a month (€81 a month billed annually), Scale at €297 a month (€248 a month billed annually), VAT treatment not stated, price checked on October 10, 2026. Each additional LinkedIn account costs €29 a month, and optional enrichment credits start at €19 a month.

7. Mailshake

Mailshake automates sending personalized prospecting emails at volume, with automatic follow-ups and mail merge that inserts text and links specific to each recipient. Sequences pause when a prospect replies, unsubscribes or bounces, and phone and social media steps can be added to the same sequence.

On deliverability, the vendor lists a domain setup assistant, free warm-up (via SMTP), a list cleaning tool and a text analyzer that spots risky words. SHAKEspeare, its AI writing assistant, generates several versions of an email, and Data Finder searches for prospects by job title, location or company.

Best for: teams that hire often and want a new sales rep to be able to launch campaigns on day one.

Strengths: unlimited warm-up and email verification from the Starter plan; A/B tests on an email, a follow-up or an entire campaign; works with Gmail, Office 365, most Outlook and Exchange accounts and most SMTP and IMAP addresses.

Limitations: site and pricing in English only. No free trial, and payment is required upfront. The Starter plan is limited to one sending address and 1,500 sends a month, and the unlimited calling minutes apply to North American numbers.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site.

8. Overloop

Overloop finds prospects suited to your business, retrieves their contact details and ties your offer to news about their company, then handles sending and follow-ups once you have reviewed the campaign. Its database holds more than 450 million contacts, and verification flags invalid or uncertain addresses before sending.

Sequences combine emails, LinkedIn steps, delays and conditions. Buying signals (job change, fundraising, a wave of hiring) help you decide whom to contact first. AI can write the first message from the prospect's website and social profiles, then write follow-ups that take the emails already sent into account.

Best for: freelancers and small teams that want a contact database, buying signals and AI-written follow-ups, on a French-language site.

Strengths: site, features and pricing in French, from a vendor on the market since 2014; HubSpot and Pipedrive integrations from the Growth plan; privacy and DPA documentation available, with a GDPR statement.

Limitations: the Starter plan is limited to one email account per user and 3 campaigns, the Salesforce integration and the dedicated IP (a sending IP address reserved for your account) are reserved for the Enterprise plan, and the price is paid per user. The site states that its built-in warm-up sends a low volume through an external network.

Pricing: the French pricing page shows Starter at 69 and Growth at 99 per user per month, in dollars on the plan cards and in euros in the comparison table, price checked on October 10, 2026, currency: confirm with the vendor; Enterprise on a custom quote; 7-day free trial.

Homepage of the Overloop software
The Overloop homepage promises more meetings through AI and an end to manual prospecting.

9. Saleshandy

Saleshandy presents itself as a multichannel prospecting platform that combines a B2B database, email outreach, a dialer, WhatsApp and task management. The tool buys your domains, connects your accounts and configures SPF, DKIM and DMARC automatically. According to the vendor, its database holds more than 852 million contacts across more than 42 million companies, and every email is verified before sending.

Sequences run through email, calls, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and manual tasks; when a prospect does not reply, the tool tries another channel, and sub-sequences trigger based on their responses. Warm-up runs automatically, with inbox placement tests, and replies from every account land in a single inbox linked to a built-in CRM.

Best for: teams that want to pay for email lookups only when the address is verified, and drive their prospecting from an AI assistant.

Strengths: unlimited sending accounts, with no per-inbox fee; business email searched through a waterfall of several providers and then verified, for a single credit, with nothing charged when the address stays unverified; connection to AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini via MCP, a protocol that links these assistants to your tools.

Limitations: site and pricing in English only. The Starter plan is limited to one user, 2,000 active prospects and 6,000 emails a month; live chat starts with the Pro plan and personalized onboarding with the Scale plan.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site, whose currency selector also offers the euro; 7-day free trial with no credit card.

10. SmartReach.io

SmartReach.io describes its product as end-to-end cold email software, complemented by LinkedIn and calls. Preparing domains, inboxes and numbers, finding contacts, sending, tracking replies and updating your CRM all happen in one place. Its database lets you filter more than 300 million contacts by job title, industry, company size, technologies used or location, and each address is verified for free before the campaign goes out.

A single campaign chains email, LinkedIn, calls and WhatsApp. Conditional branches decide the next step depending on whether the prospect replied, opened the message or accepted the LinkedIn invitation, and a reply or a booked meeting stops the follow-ups. AI can write the entire sequence (subject lines, opening lines, text variants), which you approve before sending, and messages go out in the prospect's time zone while avoiding their public holidays. On deliverability, the tool spreads sending across an unlimited number of accounts, matches the sending provider to the recipient's (Gmail to Gmail, Outlook to Outlook) and pauses campaigns when a domain appears on a blacklist, meaning a list of senders reported for spam.

Best for: sales teams and agencies that want to run email, LinkedIn and calls in a single campaign, and pay according to usage rather than per user.

Strengths: no per-user billing, with unlimited users from the Email Outreach Plus plan; free address verification on every plan; client dashboards for agencies, from the Plus plan.

Limitations: the entry Email Outreach Basic plan is limited to one user, 1,000 active prospects and 10,000 emails a month, with no inbox rotation or integrations. LinkedIn automation, CRM integrations and extra active prospects are sold as add-ons.

Pricing: prices published in US dollars on the site, with monthly or annual billing; 14-day free trial, no credit card required.

SmartReach.io sums up its promise in four words: prospects in, meetings out.

The 10 cold email tools compared

What should you check before choosing?

1. What does "unlimited" mean on your plan? The word shows up everywhere, with different meanings: sending inboxes, stored contacts, emails sent or active contacts per month. At Reply.io, the limit on unlimited inboxes is the number of active contacts; Instantly caps the monthly emails on its plans.

2. What is sold as an add-on? Contact database, enrichment credits, LinkedIn, calls, preconfigured inboxes, placement tests: at several vendors, these components come on top of the starting price. Add up the total for your actual usage, over twelve months.

3. How does the price change as you grow? Depending on the tool, you pay per user (Overloop), per prospect contacted (Woodpecker), per tier of active prospects with no per-user fee (SmartReach.io) or per tier of sends. Choose the model that tracks whatever is going to grow on your side: the team, the volume or the number of domains.

4. How does the tool protect your main domain? Ask whether it configures SPF, DKIM and DMARC, whether it lets you send from secondary domains, whether it spreads volume across several inboxes and whether it stops follow-ups as soon as a prospect replies.

5. Can you honor your prospects' right to object? Check for an unsubscribe link, a suppression list shared by the whole team and duplicate detection.

Where does this ranking stop?

It rests on what vendors publish. We read their sites in October 2026, without sending a campaign or measuring placement rates. For a few vendors, our reading found no features page: their profiles rely on the homepage and the pricing page, and a tool that says little about its features may be underrated here.

It does not know your volume. An agency managing dozens of inboxes for its clients, a founder sending their first emails and a team that prospects mostly on LinkedIn do not need the same tool. Start from your sending volume, the number of inboxes to manage and the channels you use, then read the Best for line of each profile before looking at the rank.

It follows rules that move. Plans, prices and mailbox provider requirements change. We will review this ranking at regular intervals; before subscribing, check the price and sending limits of your plan on the vendor's site.

How do future customers find you once your cold email tool is chosen?

Cold email software contacts the people you picked, at the right pace. It does not make you visible when a buyer searches Google for a solution on their own or asks ChatGPT which provider to choose. To compare these two ways of winning customers, see the 50 best customer acquisition channels in 2026. Also check what a prospect finds when they search for your name after receiving your email.

Sorank automates this visibility work. The tool identifies your keywords, writes and then publishes articles built for Google and for AI assistants, and alerts you when an AI cites your brand. Our GEO software page details these steps. To gauge what this would bring alongside your email campaigns, book a call.

Conclusion

Depending on how you prospect: lemlist for a team that wants to find its prospects, reach them on several channels and monitor its deliverability in a French-language interface; Smartlead for an agency that sends at scale from many inboxes and wants to buy them already configured; Emelia for a small French-speaking team that prospects by email and LinkedIn with a price published in euros.

Before the first send, set up your domain authentication, warm up your new inboxes and verify your list: every tool in this ranking offers warm-up, and a deliverability tool such as MailReach, listed among the other tools worth knowing, can be added on top to monitor your inboxes.

Frequently asked questions

What is cold email software?

Cold email software sends sequences of prospecting emails to people who do not know you yet, with automatic follow-ups. The tools in this ranking add deliverability features such as inbox warm-up and spreading sends across several addresses. Several of them, such as lemlist, Instantly or Saleshandy, also offer a contact database.

Is B2B cold email legal in France?

According to the CNIL, France's data protection authority, email prospecting aimed at professionals can rest on the company's legitimate interest when the message relates to the recipient's profession. The person must be informed and able to object simply and free of charge, and each message must state who is sending it. For a specific case, ask a legal professional for advice.

Should you warm up your sending inboxes before a campaign?

Warm-up gradually increases a new inbox's sending to build its sender reputation before campaigns, as Instantly explains. All ten tools in this ranking offer warm-up, and MailReach, listed among the other tools worth knowing, makes it its core business.
