In short
Adam Collins is the best overall choice for a London business that wants one independent consultant to diagnose what limits its organic traffic before paying for a full project. Honed suits a business that wants a senior freelancer for full-service SEO and publishes a phone number and an email address. HB Freelance fits an online shop with a large catalogue, Envision SEO a B2B or professional services firm, Anglux an upmarket brand that wants a small London team, and Eppie Shepherd a business that needs SEO copy. The right choice depends first on whether you sell products online or services, and then on whether you want one person or a team.

Choosing among the SEO consultants in London means handing your search visibility to one person or a very small team, rather than to a large agency structure. The person who sells you the work is often the one who runs it, which suits a London business with a clear problem and a fixed budget. Google dominates the market you are buying into: the Competition and Markets Authority said in its press release of 10 October 2025 that more than 90% of searches in the UK take place on Google. This ranking brings together ten London consultants and small firms, checked one by one, and says for each which kind of business they suit.
A London address is not a quality mark, but it changes three things for a local business: you can meet in person, you can check where the consultant works, and local search signals such as your Google Business Profile and local listings are tied to the place where your customers are. A consultant who works on those signals every week is worth more than one who lists local SEO as an extra line.
The sector is large, and much of it is consultancy work. In 2023, computer programming, consultancy and related activities accounted for almost 52% of employment in London's digital sector, about 270000 jobs, according to the Greater London Authority's labour market analysis "London's Digital Sector", published in March 2025. Many consultants compete for your budget, which is why the criteria below look at what each site publishes, not at how loudly it talks.
Being in London is a starting filter, not a promise. It tells you where the consultant works, not how they run an account. That is why the criteria below look at what each site publishes about the person doing the work.
Four fears come up again and again when a London business hires an SEO consultant. Each one can be checked before you sign.
Four criteria, set before we looked at which consultant came first, and applied only to what each site publishes. Every site was reviewed on 6 November 2026, and this page is scheduled for review every 90 days.
1. SEO is the core business. The consultant or firm presents organic search as its main service, not as one item among many.
2. A London presence you can see. The site shows an address, an office, a team or a London area, so you know where the work is done.
3. A person or team you can identify, and a way to reach them. The site names the person or team who does the work and publishes a contact route.
4. An offer you can read without a sales call. The site lists services and an entry point, such as a free audit or a consultation, and makes no ranking promise with a figure attached.
What we deliberately did not do: we did not repeat client counts, review totals or results as facts. When a profile shows them, they are the agency's own claim, and we did not check them. We did not promise rankings, did not audit any site, and did not rank a firm on size or fame. Where the homepage text we reviewed does not show a detail, the tables say "Not published".

The site presents Adam Collins as an independent SEO consultant based in London, working directly with businesses across the UK on SEO strategy and organic growth. The site lists technical SEO audits, local SEO consulting, SEO strategy and content, and SEO training and speaking, and offers a free SEO analysis to start.
Best for: a business that wants a clear diagnosis before it buys any work, with local SEO if its customers are in London. No price appears in the text we reviewed, so ask for the scope and the fee in writing on the first call.

Honed is the SEO portfolio of Matt Wright, a freelance SEO based in London. The site says it was established in 2010 and describes more than twelve years of creative yet technical, full-service SEO work, with strategic high-volume search traffic growth, analytical attribution, lead generation and content deployment. It lists client work including Cancer Research UK and Chilly's, shows side tools such as a keyword combinator and an SEO ROI calculator, and publishes a phone number and an email address.
Best for: a UK business that wants one senior freelancer for full-service SEO, from technical work to content, and wants to speak to the person doing the work. No price appears in the text we reviewed.

Darren Kingman is presented as an SEO and link building freelancer based in London, with a specialism in creative content and digital PR. The site calls the work multi-award winning and says its agency experience delivered ROI over £10m. It publishes a London phone number and an email address, and offers SEO, content marketing, digital PR and link building.
Best for: a business that wants SEO and digital PR planned together, with link building and outreach run by the same person. Ask for the timeline and the scope in writing, and check the price, which the text we reviewed does not show.

HB Freelance is the freelance practice of Hemanth Balaji, presented as a London-based consultant with more than fifteen years in ecommerce, technical SEO and AI search. The site lists complete technical SEO audits, competitor analysis, on-page optimisation and content strategy, ecommerce SEO for category and product pages, and AI search and GEO work. Its homepage has a "What does it cost?" section, but the figure is not in the text we reviewed.
Best for: online retailers with category pages, filters and product feeds to fix, and businesses that want an ecommerce specialist rather than a generalist. Ask for the price in writing before the first audit.

Envision SEO is presented as an independent SEO consultant based in Ealing, West London, who helps B2B and professional services firms across London get found on Google and in AI search. The homepage offers a free consultation and a monthly SEO service with AI search included, and shows a case study of a UK renewable energy brokerage, with top-3 rankings up 129%, as the site presents it.
Best for: B2B and professional services firms in London that want one consultant covering SEO, content and AI search, starting with a free call. No price appears in the text we reviewed, so ask for the fee and the scope in writing.

Anglux calls itself a boutique SEO and AI search consultancy in Shoreditch, London, working with luxury and upmarket brands as well as London studios and agencies. The site lists technical audits, strategy, on-page, off-page and local SEO, and a client list that includes Cadogan, Sloane Street and Dr Haus Dermatology on Harley Street. The offer comes from a team rather than a single named consultant, as far as the text we reviewed shows.
Best for: upmarket, luxury, hospitality and premium clinic brands in London that want a specialist team. Ask who will run your account day to day, since the text we reviewed names no individual.

Distinctly is a digital marketing agency based in Old Street, London. Its homepage puts organic growth first, alongside digital PR and paid media, and says it works mainly with ecommerce businesses whose product and category pages are losing visibility as AI overviews take clicks. It presents organic growth across the full journey: discoverability, trust and demand.
Best for: ecommerce brands that want an agency to rebuild organic revenue across product and category pages, with digital PR alongside. Expect a team, and ask who runs the account day to day.

ClickSlice describes itself as an award-winning SEO agency in London, ROI focused, with a money back guarantee. Its homepage presents a boutique team that combines SEO with traditional and AI search strategies, and shows case studies such as a 501% increase in organic traffic. These are the agency's own figures, which we did not check, and the text we reviewed does not describe the terms of the guarantee.
Best for: ecommerce and brand owners who want a boutique team with a money back offer. Read the guarantee terms before you sign, and ask for references from clients of a similar size.

ClickDo calls itself the "#1 London SEO Agency", which is the agency's own claim. It offers SEO consulting, link building, local SEO, Google Ads and web design, and says it has 1000+ happy clients, which we did not check. The homepage presents bespoke SEO and link building from authoritative sites as its core.
Best for: businesses that want SEO, link building and local SEO from one supplier, with Google Ads or web design as options. As an agency rather than a solo consultant, ask who does the audit and who reports to you each month.

Eppie Shepherd is presented as a freelance copywriter and SEO consultant based in South London, with more than ten years of digital experience. The site says the work covers startups, national businesses and global brands, and shows SEO copywriting case studies for clients including Penguin Books, Maven Clinic and Locke. The homepage offers a free chat to start.
Best for: businesses that need SEO strategy and the copy that carries it, such as website pages and articles. If your main problem is technical, ask on the first call who handles it.
Each cell reflects what the site publishes, based on the homepage text we reviewed. "Not published" means that text does not show the detail.

Three questions to put on the first call, whoever you choose.
Three limits, stated clearly.
It is based on public text. We read the homepage text captured for each site and did not audit any site or confirm any result. A consultant who communicates little and delivers well will be underrated here.
It does not know your budget. The right consultant for a brand spending heavily on organic growth is rarely the right one for a small local business. The Best for lines matter more than the order.
It ages. Prices, offers and services change. Check the consultant's site before you sign.
A consultant makes judgement calls: which pages to rewrite first, which local terms to target, when to stop a project that is not working. They also know your market and your customers, and they can meet you in London.
Software is faster at repetitive work: it lists keywords, checks pages and drafts content at any hour. Sorank is software, not an agency. It helps with keyword research, with articles written for Google and for AI assistants, and with tracking when AI assistants mention your brand. Many London businesses use a consultant for the strategy and software for the routine work.
Sorank is software for SEO and AI assistant visibility. Pricing starts at 99€ per month, with 3 days offered and a card required at sign up. To see whether it fits your case, book a call or visit sorank.com.

This ranking reflects my own experience and opinion as an SEO expert with more than 7 years in the field. It is based on verified facts, but the order itself is my personal view.
Ask for admin access to Search Console, analytics and the Google Business Profile in your own name.
A serious consultant names the metrics before the work starts: organic traffic, enquiries, rankings for the terms you chose, and how they track mentions in AI assistants.
Get the fee, the notice period and the list of deliverables in writing, and check that the audits, content files and reports are yours.
