Data study of 301025 AI answers: how often LinkedIn is cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Grok, month by month over 13 months.

LinkedIn is cited in 0.71% of measured answers over the last three months, which places it tenth of the platforms tracked. It is cited by all five models, most often by Grok at 1.88% and least often by Claude at 0.25%.
LinkedIn is the strongest social platform for business questions, and it remains an order of magnitude behind review and video platforms.
A citation rate of 2% means the source was cited twice for every 100 measured answers. Rates are computed per model against the number of answers of that model, so a model with a smaller sample never distorts a column. A source cited several times inside one answer is counted once per company block, which keeps a single verbose answer from dominating a month.
The gap between the model that cites LinkedIn most and the one that cites it least is 1.63 points. That spread, not the average, is what should decide a budget: the same work returns most on Grok and least on Claude. Across all tracked platforms, LinkedIn ranks tenth.
Over the 13 months measured, LinkedIn moved from 0.32% in August 2025 to 0.56% in August 2026, with a peak of 1.17% in April 2026. Averaged over the first three months against the last three, the movement is plus 0.33 points.
Professional content travels, but less than the volume of effort spent on it would suggest. The citation rate rises in consulting, education and media, which are the sectors where individual expertise is part of the buying decision. Elsewhere it stays marginal. The reading is not that the platform is useless, it is that its return in AI answers is smaller than its return in direct reach, and the two should not be counted twice in the same plan.

Yes, for reach and credibility, which this study does not measure. The narrow finding is that posts rarely become the source an assistant names, so posting should not replace publishing on your own site.
