Data study of 20002 Grok answers over 13 months: the platforms it cites most, its citation density and how it differs from the four other AI.
Grok was measured on 20002 answers over 13 months. Its most cited platform is Reddit at 4.11%, and it names on average 7.1 sources per answer, which places it second of the five models measured.
Grok is the model where community and marketplace content weighs most, and where a single directory can carry a double digit share of answers.
A citation rate of 2% means the source was cited twice for every 100 measured answers. Rates are computed per model against the number of answers of that model, so a model with a smaller sample never distorts a column. A source cited several times inside one answer is counted once per company block, which keeps a single verbose answer from dominating a month.
The distribution is worth as much as the ranking. The top three sources hold 49% of the citations counted in this table, 8 platforms sit above 1%, and Reddit and Facebook are close enough to be treated as one tier. A market where three sources hold most of the citations rewards depth on those three rather than presence everywhere.
Citation density on Grok moved from 4.3 to 5.2 sources per answer over the period. The platforms it cites moved too: Reddit is now first at 4.11%.
Grok leans on places where people talk and trade rather than on institutional references. Forums, marketplaces and sector directories occupy positions they never reach on the other models. For a business, that makes reputation work and marketplace presence directly measurable here, and it makes the model unusually sensitive to what a niche community says about you. It is also the model with the smallest sample in this panel, so read it as a direction rather than a precise value.
