SEO for packaging companies is how a converter, a box or pouch maker or a packaging distributor gets found by the people who brief and buy packaging: a founder typing "custom mailer boxes low minimum", a packaging engineer comparing "mono-material stand up pouch" suppliers, a buyer who needs PPWR documents (the EU packaging regulation) before the next audit. Sorank finds these searches for each format and material, publishes the guides on your site, links them to your product and quote pages, and tracks which suppliers the AI assistants name.
Each article can wait as a draft until your technical or compliance lead has checked it.

"FEFCO 0427 box supplier", "32 ECT corrugated boxes wholesale", "kraft stand up pouch with zipper 500 pieces": packaging buyers describe a specification, not a company. Your catalog can answer thousands of these combinations, and most sites bury them behind a single "our solutions" page. Sorank sorts the searches into clusters by format, substrate and quantity, ranked by difficulty and intent, so you begin with the ones a small team can win.
Start from your own product list in keyword research.
"PFAS free grease resistant paper", "PPWR declaration of conformity packaging supplier", "are corrugated boxes exempt from reuse targets": the EU packaging rules have applied since August 2026, and brand owners now need documents from their suppliers. Sorank drafts the explainers around your own documents, with each source cited, and you set the wording your team accepts on barrier claims, recycled content and food contact.
Those limits are set once in brand voice, then applied to every article.

A brand manager asks "which suppliers make compostable coffee bags in small runs in Europe" or "best alternative to bubble wrap for shipping glass". Sorank writes these questions for your market, sorts them by intent (comparison, understanding, benefits, quality), sends them every month to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, and shows which ones mention you. The prompts where you are absent become your next articles.
Build your list with AI prompt research.
WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Wix, or a custom site through a webhook. Sorank reads your Search Console data and sees which product pages, spec sheets and sector pages already earn impressions.
Formats, substrates, print methods, minimum runs, the sectors you serve and the countries you ship to. Sorank turns this brief into keyword groups and buyer prompts, with the formats you want to sell first at the top.
Guides go out on your schedule, live or held for review. Each one points to the right product page, sample request or quote form, and your compliance lead can correct a draft before it reaches a buyer.

SEO for packaging companies is the work of making a packaging supplier visible when brands, procurement teams and engineers look for a format, a material or a compliant alternative, on Google and in AI assistants. It covers corrugated and folding carton makers, flexible packaging converters, rigid plastic, glass and metal containers, closures, labels and protective packaging, along with their distributors. What sets it apart is the buyer: usually a company that packs its own product and may be choosing a pack for the first time, or a procurement team that must now prove what that pack contains.
Molders selling parts should read SEO for plastics manufacturers, resin and coating producers SEO for chemical companies, and factories selling capacity across sectors manufacturing SEO. Companies buying packaging for their own goods will find a closer fit in the page for food manufacturers. This page is for the businesses whose product is the pack.
They shortlist on fit before price: can this supplier make my format, in my material, at my quantity, with the documents I need? A startup founder looks for low minimums and clear pricing, often through marketplaces and online print shops. A packaging engineer searches a barrier property or a substrate, then opens spec sheets. A procurement team compares several approved sources and asks for samples.
AI assistants now sit in the middle of that shortlist. In our manufacturing AI citation study, based on 2000 answers measured in 2026, YouTube is cited in 3.65% of answers, Trustpilot in 2.9% and Amazon in 1.95%, 1.7 times its weight in the general ranking. The study covers manufacturing as a whole, not packaging alone, but the lesson carries over: a line trial on video, your listings and your reviews feed the answer as much as your own pages do.

Our guide to B2B SEO explains how to order this work, and the one on product description SEO shows how to write a catalog page that stands on its own.
Because it moves legal responsibility onto your customers, who then need answers and documents from you. Regulation (EU) 2025/40, known as PPWR, has been in force since February 11, 2025 and applies from August 12, 2026, and it reaches far beyond EU-based makers: it covers packaging placed on the EU market.
The Commission's FAQ, updated in August 2026, is direct on three points that buyers search for. When a pack carries a name or trademark, the manufacturer is usually the company behind that name, even if another firm physically makes the pack (a micro-enterprise buying from a supplier in its own country is the exception, and the supplier then takes that role). That manufacturer draws up the EU declaration of conformity and the technical documentation. And suppliers, while generally not responsible for the declaration, must hand over all the information and documents needed to prove conformity, on paper or electronically.
A converter who explains clearly what it provides, and in which form, answers a question its competitors leave to a sales email.
Start with the ones your buyers already ask about, and date every article, because more detail is on the way. The same FAQ lists a 50% maximum empty space ratio for grouped, transport and e-commerce packaging, which falls on the company that fills the pack, and PFAS limits for food-contact packaging applying from August 12, 2026. Those PFAS limits are maximum concentrations rather than a ban, they cover the whole unit including inks, varnishes, glues and adhesives, and no list of substances with CAS registry numbers will be published. The reuse targets for transport packaging exempt cardboard boxes, corrugated ones included, but not interlayers.
Longer horizons matter for your range planning. All packaging must be recyclable by 2030, with performance grades from 2030, recycling at scale from 2035 and stricter requirements from 2038. The Commission's implementation timeline sets December 31, 2026 for the recycled content calculation method and January 1, 2028 for the design for recycling criteria, so articles written today should say what is still pending.
Outside Europe, questions take another form. In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration looks at a food contact material substance by substance: every one that may migrate into food must be covered by an authorization, and federal rules treat adhesives and coatings, paper and board, and polymers separately. A page per substrate fits that logic well.
Narrowly, with the scope and proof stated next to the claim. Say which part of the pack the claim covers, where it applies and which test or certificate backs it. The FAQ is precise on recycled content: an environmental claim is allowed where the content exceeds the legal minimum, and it can apply to the unit, to the part containing the recycled material, or to all packaging placed on the market in a calendar year. Compostability follows its own calendar, with Article 9 applying from February 12, 2028 for the pack types it names. Claims like these also build the trust that E-E-A-T describes, and vague ones are the first thing a procurement team discounts.
Everything a buyer needs to decide whether to ask for a sample. State dimensions and tolerances, the substrates and barrier options, print methods, minimum run, lead time ranges, what a sample round costs, the sectors served, the certificates held, and end-of-life information per market. Put these in text and tables as well as in the PDF, because a buyer landing on a bare spec sheet has no route to your quote form. Pages sharing one structure, grouped by format and linked together, also build the topical authority a catalog site tends to lack.
Sorank handles keyword research by format and material, the guides and explainers with sources and internal links, the publishing calendar, monthly tracking of AI answers, links from other Sorank users' sites, and your Search Console, Analytics and AI visits in a single dashboard.
Your team keeps what binds the company: declarations of conformity, technical documentation, test reports, certificates, the final word on every legal or environmental statement, plus quotes, samples and tooling. Sorank gives no legal advice. It also does not manage your Google Business Profile, your reviews or your city and service pages, which matter if you run a local trade counter or a print shop.
Billing is per website, with three plans. Essential costs $49 a month paid yearly or $99 month to month, for 20 articles; Pro costs $129 yearly or $249 monthly, for 60 articles and with Grok added to tracking; Business costs $249 or $499, for 120 articles (compare the plans). A 3-day free trial lets you read a first format guide before committing.
Expect several months before sample and quote requests follow, and no fixed date. Long, specific searches on a format and a material tend to move first, broad terms such as "packaging supplier" much later. Packaging also sells slowly: a brand may read a guide in spring and only switch supplier when its next line trial or contract renewal comes around. Track impressions by format in Search Console, count sample requests from organic visits, and judge the program after two quarters.
Several months. Specific searches on a format and material usually show impressions first, and supplier changes follow contract and line trial cycles, so judge the work after two quarters of regular publishing.
Plans are priced per website. Essential starts at $49 a month on yearly billing, or $99 without commitment, and includes 20 articles and a 3-day free trial. Pro offers 60 articles and Business 120.
It can publish explainers on what the regulation asks and what you supply, with official sources cited and your reviewer signing off. Your declarations, technical documents and test reports stay with your team, and Sorank gives no legal advice.
The combinations you make profitably and that few rivals document: format plus material plus order size, such as "kraft pouch with zipper 500 pieces". Broad words like "packaging supplier" come later, if at all.
Publish what assistants can quote: stated minimums, materials, certificates and markets served, consistent with your listings and videos elsewhere. Sorank then checks monthly which buyer questions name you and which suppliers appear instead. No tool can guarantee a recommendation.
It publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Wix and Shopify, and to custom sites through a webhook. It does not manage your Google Business Profile or reviews: those stay with you.
We don't. Sorank isn't trying to be another Semrush or Ahrefs. Those tools are built for data, Sorank is built to do the work. Instead of more dashboards to check, it turns SEO and GEO insights into actions: articles written and published, backlinks earned, technical fixes and AI visibility tracking. Less complexity, more results.
From $49/month per website on a yearly plan, with a 3-day free trial and a 90-day money-back guarantee (conditions apply). Every plan includes articles, AI visibility tracking and access to natural backlink acquisition; higher plans add more articles, more AI prompts tracked and more backlinks. No setup fees, no paying for seats you don't use.
You shouldn't need a full marketing team or expensive tools to grow. Sorank handles your entire SEO and AI visibility, so you save time and money.
