SEO for chemical companies is how a manufacturer or distributor of chemicals gets found by the people who specify and buy them: a formulator who types a CAS number (the registry number of the Chemical Abstracts Service), a buyer comparing "food grade phosphoric acid 85%" offers, a health and safety manager looking for a safety data sheet, a lab chemist asking ChatGPT for a substitute to a restricted solvent. Sorank finds these searches for each product family, publishes application and regulation articles on your site that link to your product pages and documents, and tracks which suppliers the AI assistants name.
Every article can stay a draft until your technical or regulatory team approves it.

"CAS 7681-52-9 supplier", "glacial acetic acid 99.8% bulk", "USP grade glycerin in drums": chemical buyers search by identifier, grade, concentration and pack size, and the same substance often has five names. Sorank groups these searches by product family, with their synonyms, volume and difficulty, so each grade and each application gets one page that owns its searches.
The groups are built by the topical cluster generator, which keeps two articles off the same query.
"Defoamer for water-based coatings", "corrosion inhibitor for closed cooling loops", "how to store sodium hypochlorite": application and handling questions need precise wording. You give Sorank standing instructions (units, test methods, the claims your team allows, the documents to link) and switch on expert mode, then every article cites its sources and points to the right safety data sheet and technical data sheet.
These writing rules live in brand voice settings.

Ask ChatGPT "who supplies REACH-registered glycol ethers in Germany" or "replacement for methylene chloride in paint strippers" and it runs its own web searches before answering. Sorank stores each answer with those searches and the websites it used, so you can see whether your pages were read, which distributor or database was quoted instead, and which question deserves an article of yours.
Each search is logged in AI query fan-out.
WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Wix or a custom catalog through a webhook: Sorank connects in minutes, reads your Search Console data and sees which products, grades and documents already pull visits.
List your families, grades, applications and the countries you sell to, and the documents each product carries. Sorank proposes the buyer and engineer questions behind each family, ranked by how close they are to a sample or quote request.
Articles wait as drafts for your chemist or regulatory lead, or go live on fixed days. Each one links to its product page, its documents and your sample request form.

SEO for chemical companies is the work that makes a chemical manufacturer or distributor visible when a product is being specified or sourced: in Google results, in the answers of AI assistants and, through them, on the shortlist a purchasing team prepares. The audience is narrow and technical. Formulators and lab chemists look for performance, purchasing compares grades, pack sizes and lead times, and safety managers need documents.
A distributor faces one more problem: the same product, with the same manufacturer description, sits on dozens of other sites. Copied text adds nothing that tells your page apart, as our glossary entry on duplicate content explains, so a distributor ranks with what it adds: stock locations, pack sizes, delivery times, documents in local languages, application advice. Molders and compounders will find their own page for plastics manufacturers; equipment makers, the one for industrial equipment.
By identifier first. A buyer pastes a CAS number, a synonym or a trade name, adds a grade or a concentration, and expects a page that confirms the match before it sells anything. Engineers search by problem ("foaming in a wastewater tank") and by substitution, often because a substance is being restricted.
AI assistants answer the substitution and sourcing questions with a short synthesis, and the sources behind it change with the language of the question. Our French vs English AI citation study measured 100597 distinct domains cited in answers to French questions against 54603 for English ones, with Wikipedia at 3.99% of French answers and 3.3% of English answers. For a supplier selling across Europe, a translated page is not enough: each market needs its own documents, listings and proof.
Our guide to entity SEO shows why stating identifiers consistently helps search engines and AI assistants match your page to the right substance.
Because people search for them by name, and because the law fixes what they contain. In the United States, the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard requires labels with a harmonized signal word, pictogram and hazard statement, and safety data sheets (SDS) in a 16-section format. OSHA published an updated final rule on May 20, 2024, effective July 19, 2024, aligned mainly with the seventh revision of the UN Globally Harmonized System, which explains the searches about "what changed in HazCom 2024".
In the European Union, the safety data sheet follows REACH Annex II. As the Northern Ireland health and safety authority sums up in its guidance on REACH safety data sheets, it must be written in an official language of the Member State concerned (unless the national authority accepts another), handed over before or at the first delivery, and updated as soon as new hazard information appears. A product page per language, with the current sheet linked from it, serves both the law and the search. PDF files can rank too; our guide to PDF SEO explains how to make them findable.

It creates the questions buyers ask. Under REACH, in force since 2007, a substance above one tonne a year per company must be registered with the European Chemicals Agency, and substances of very high concern are meant to be replaced progressively by safer substances or technologies. Buyers therefore check registration status, ask whether a substance counts as a substance of very high concern, and look for alternatives. Pages that state the status of each product, with the date it was checked, answer those questions; articles on substitution, written with your chemists, answer the next one.
Content on hazardous substances touches safety, a subject Google weighs with extra care (see our glossary entry on YMYL topics). Keep every claim sourced and checked by someone qualified.
A direct answer, then the facts a specialist checks: the substance names and CAS number, the grade and concentration, the properties that matter with their units and test methods, the applications it suits and those it does not, a handling summary that sends the reader to the safety data sheet, the regulatory status with a review date, and the name of the chemist who approved it. It ends with links to the product page, the documents and the sample request form. Sorank writes on this outline; our guide to B2B content marketing covers how sales teams can reuse such articles.
Sorank handles keyword research by product family, the articles with their sources and internal links, the publishing calendar, the monthly tracking of AI answers, links from other Sorank users' sites, and your Search Console and Analytics data in one dashboard.
Sorank does not write or update safety data sheets, labels, certificates of analysis or registration dossiers: those are legal documents that stay with your regulatory team. Your catalog, prices, quotes, sample logistics and distributor portals stay with you too. Industrial firms that sell machined or fabricated parts rather than substances will find their page under manufacturers.
Sorank is priced per website. Essential costs $49 a month on yearly billing, or $99 month to month, for 20 articles a month and 10 tracked AI questions; Pro, $129 yearly or $249 monthly, publishes 60 articles and adds Grok; Business, $249 or $499, publishes 120 (pricing details). A free 3-day trial lets your team check a first article. B2B agencies usually charge a monthly retainer for similar content work.
Several months. Product and grade pages with clear identifiers can pick up impressions early; application and substitution articles take longer, and the request often comes weeks after the first read, once a formulator has run trials. Track impressions and clicks per product family in Search Console, and judge each family after a quarter of regular publishing.
Yes, within the facts you provide. Give Sorank your product data, the claims your team allows and the documents to cite, switch on expert mode, and keep articles as drafts until a chemist approves them.
No. Safety data sheets, labels and certificates are legal documents prepared by your regulatory team. Sorank links its articles to them and can explain in plain words what buyers look for in them.
State the CAS number, the main synonyms, the grade and the concentration on each product page, in text rather than only in a PDF, and link the safety and technical data sheets from that page. Sorank then publishes articles that link back to it.
Publish what assistants need to quote: clear product pages, application notes and substitution guides with sources. Keep directory and marketplace listings accurate, then check every month in Sorank which sourcing questions name you and which sites are cited instead.
Sorank starts at $49 a month per website on the yearly Essential plan, or $99 month to month, with a free 3-day trial. It publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify and Wix, and to a custom catalog through a webhook.

We don't. Sorank isn't trying to be another Semrush or Ahrefs. Those tools are built for data, Sorank is built to do the work. Instead of more dashboards to check, it turns SEO and GEO insights into actions: articles written and published, backlinks earned, technical fixes and AI visibility tracking. Less complexity, more results.
From $49/month per website on a yearly plan, with a 3-day free trial and a 90-day money-back guarantee (conditions apply). Every plan includes articles, AI visibility tracking and access to natural backlink acquisition; higher plans add more articles, more AI prompts tracked and more backlinks. No setup fees, no paying for seats you don't use.
You shouldn't need a full marketing team or expensive tools to grow. Sorank handles your entire SEO and AI visibility, so you save time and money.
