SEO for Market Research Firms: Be the Source Google and ChatGPT Quote

SEO for market research firms is how a research agency gets found by the marketing director who searches "concept testing agency", or asks ChatGPT which firm runs B2B surveys in healthcare, and how its findings get quoted with its name attached. Sorank handles the content side: it finds the questions buyers ask about your methods and sectors, publishes clear articles on your site, and shows which sources the AI assistants quote in your field.

Your studies stay yours: Sorank writes around them and links to them.

A 100-keyword search launched from SEO Chat for a demo site, sorted by priority, with volume, keyword difficulty and a same intent flag

Reach buyers while they are still choosing a method

"Focus group or online survey for a new product?", "how much does a brand tracking study cost", "market sizing for a medical device": buyers compare methods before they compare firms. Sorank finds these searches for each method and sector you cover, sorts them by priority and keeps the ones that sit closest to a brief.

Ask for a list in plain words in SEO Chat, such as "find keywords on our healthcare panel".

See whether the AIs quote your data or someone else's

A survey result travels: a journalist quotes it, a blog repeats it, and ChatGPT ends up citing the blog. For the questions you track, such as "what share of shoppers compare prices on their phone in store", Sorank lists the websites the AI assistants use as sources and the searches they run before answering. You see whether your own pages are in that list, or whether a third party is named for your numbers.

Every source and every answer stays in AI mention tracking.

Articles that point to your latest study

Each topic in the calendar can carry an instruction, such as "mention our latest brand tracking wave and link to its summary page". Sorank writes the article with that mention in place, adds the external sources it relies on, and publishes on the date you choose, or keeps it as a draft for your research director.

Plan each topic in the content calendar.

How it works

Connect your website

WordPress, Webflow, Wix or a custom site through a webhook. Sorank reads your Search Console data to see which methods, sectors and study pages already bring visits.

List your methods and sectors

Surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, conjoint analysis, brand tracking; healthcare, retail, financial services. Sorank proposes the buyer questions for each combination, ranked by how close they are to a brief.

Publish around your findings

Articles go live on the days you choose or wait as drafts. Each one links to the matching service page and, when you ask for it, to the public summary of a study.

What Sorank publishes for a market research firm

  • Method comparisons"Online survey or focus groups for concept testing", with when each method fits and what drives its cost.
  • Budget guides"How much does a brand tracking study cost?", with the factors that change the sample, the length and the price.
  • Sector primers"What a usability study for a medical device involves", written for the industries you cover.

What is SEO for market research firms?

SEO for market research firms is the work that makes a research agency visible when a company looks for help with a study, and quoted when someone needs a figure it produced. It is not the same thing as running market research for SEO: here, the research firm is the business that wants to be found, on Google and in the answers of AI assistants such as ChatGPT.

Competition starts inside the client. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics counts about 952700 jobs for market research analysts in 2025, with 7% growth projected from 2025 to 2035, in its Occupational Outlook Handbook. Many of them work in-house, at the brands you sell to, so your content has to show what an outside study adds: a panel, a method, an independent view.

How do buyers choose a market research firm?

They first decide whether they need one. Bank of America's small business guide to market research walks owners through primary and secondary research, and quotes an estimate of $5000 to $10000 for basic primary research run by a firm. Buyers arrive with that kind of figure in mind, so pages that explain scope, sample and price meet them at the right moment.

The shortlist increasingly comes from AI assistants. Long questions typed like prompts, such as "which market research firms are best for a B2B study with clear reporting?", already show up in our own Search Console data. The firm whose site answers that question plainly has a better chance of being named.

Why do AI assistants quote your numbers without naming you?

Because they cite the page they read, not the firm that ran the fieldwork. If a trade blog restates your finding more clearly than your own site, the blog gets the citation. Space is limited: in our ChatGPT citation study, ChatGPT names 4.1 sources per answer on average, Perplexity 3.3 and Gemini 11.1, across 301025 measured answers. Our guide on how AI assistants choose their sources explains the mechanics, and the one on unlinked brand mentions shows how to turn a quote without a link into a link.

Each article is scored before publication, including its sources and statistics.

How should a research firm publish findings so they get cited?

With the method next to the number. Article 9 of the ICC/ESOMAR International Code asks researchers to give the public the data source, the sampling and the methodology needed to judge the conclusions, to say whether AI or synthetic data played a significant role, and to avoid undue selectivity of findings. The same elements make a page quotable: the headline finding in one sentence, the sample size, the field dates, the method, then the detail.

Keep a public summary for every gated report (see when to gate content). If you publish tables or CSV files, Google's Dataset structured data makes them easier to find in Dataset Search.

Which keywords should a research firm target?

  • Method: "conjoint analysis vs MaxDiff", "online community research". Method comparisons answer them.
  • Sector and method: "healthcare market research firm", "B2B panel of IT decision-makers". Your service pages answer them.
  • Budget: "how much does a focus group cost". Budget guides answer them.
  • Business problem: "why are customers leaving", "how to test a new price". Articles that show which study answers the problem.
  • Data: "[sector] consumer trends 2026". Your study summaries answer them, and they are the pages other sites link to (see linkable assets).

Which parts does Sorank handle, and which stay with the research team?

Sorank handles keyword research by method and sector, the articles and their internal links, publication on your site, backlinks through other Sorank users' sites, the monthly tracking of AI answers and your Search Console data in one dashboard.

The firm keeps the research itself: fieldwork, data, methodology notes, report design, press relations (see digital PR) and the markup of its report pages. Firms that sell advice rather than studies are covered on our page for consulting firms, and analytics providers on the one for data and analytics companies.

How much does SEO cost for a market research firm?

The Essential plan costs $49 a month on yearly billing, or $99 on monthly billing, per website: it publishes 20 articles a month and tracks 10 prompts in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini. Pro ($129 annual, $249 monthly) brings 60 articles, 20 prompts and Grok; Business ($249 annual, $499 monthly) brings 120 articles and 50 prompts (see pricing). A 3-day free trial comes first, on any plan.

How long before SEO brings research briefs?

Google gives no fixed delay. New articles earn impressions in Search Console before clicks, and a brief often follows a budget cycle, so the first enquiry can come long after the first visit. Judge each method and sector after three months of publishing, and note in your CRM which page a prospect read first.

Frequently asked questions

Is SEO for market research firms the same as using market research for SEO?

No. This page is about research agencies that want to be found and quoted. Using market research for SEO means studying your own audience to choose keywords, which any business can do.

How long does SEO take for a market research firm?

Several months. Articles first gain impressions, then clicks, and briefs follow budget cycles. Judge each method and sector on its Search Console impressions and clicks after three months.

How much does SEO cost for a market research firm?

A research firm with one website pays $49 a month on the annual plan or $99 month to month, after a 3-day free trial. Firms that need more output can move to Pro (60 articles) or Business (120).

How do I get ChatGPT to cite my firm's research?

Publish each key finding on a public page of your site, with the sample, the dates and the method next to it, then track every month which sources ChatGPT quotes for those topics and whether your pages are among them.

Should we put our research reports behind a form?

You can keep the full report gated, but publish a public summary with the main findings and the methodology. Google and the AI assistants cannot read what sits behind a form.

Does Sorank work with our website?

Yes. Sorank publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Wix and Shopify, and to any other site through a webhook. Articles go live or wait as drafts for review.

How does Sorank compete with billion-dollar tools like Semrush?

We don't. Sorank isn't trying to be another Semrush or Ahrefs. Those tools are built for data, Sorank is built to do the work. Instead of more dashboards to check, it turns SEO and GEO insights into actions: articles written and published, backlinks earned, technical fixes and AI visibility tracking. Less complexity, more results.

How much does Sorank cost?

From $49/month per website on a yearly plan, with a 3-day free trial and a 90-day money-back guarantee (conditions apply). Every plan includes articles, AI visibility tracking and access to natural backlink acquisition; higher plans add more articles, more AI prompts tracked and more backlinks. No setup fees, no paying for seats you don't use.

You don't have time and a big budget?

You shouldn't need a full marketing team or expensive tools to grow. Sorank handles your entire SEO and AI visibility, so you save time and money.
