SEO for electricians is the work that brings an electrical contractor in front of people who need wiring done, whether they open Google Maps, scroll the regular results or ask an AI assistant. It rests on a complete Google Business Profile with reviews, a page for each service you sell, and articles that answer what customers ask before they book an electrician, from "why does my outlet feel warm" to "can my panel handle an EV charger".
Emergency repairs are only part of the trade. The jobs that fill a calendar weeks ahead, panel upgrades, chargers, generators, rewiring, are researched at length, and that research happens online. The same goes for standby generators, heat pump circuits, hot tubs and the rewiring of older houses. A contractor who explains these jobs clearly, with the checks and the paperwork involved, is the one whose page gets read before the quote request.
They look for proof of a license, recent reviews and a clear list of services. The license matters more here than in most trades: the Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that most states require electricians to be licensed, and that licensing tests cover the National Electrical Code and local codes. The same source counts about 821,000 electrician jobs in 2025 and projects 9% growth from 2025 to 2035, so the number of licensed competitors in each town is not about to shrink. Print your license number on every page, and name the electrician who reviewed each article (see author authority).

It should explain, never instruct live work. A good article describes what a symptom can mean, what a homeowner can safely check (the breaker panel, a tripped GFCI, an appliance unplugged) and the exact point where the job becomes work for a licensed electrician. It never gives step-by-step instructions on energized circuits, and it says when a permit and an inspection apply. That line protects readers, keeps the content in step with Google's standards for "Your Money or Your Life" topics, and turns the reader into a customer at the right moment.
Rental work follows its own rules. In England, the government guide for landlords requires the electrics of a rented home to be checked at least every 5 years by a properly qualified person, with proof given to tenants.
