SEO for Real Estate Agents: Be the Name Sellers Find First

SEO for real estate agents is how an agent or a brokerage gets found by the two people a deal needs: the owner who types "how much is my house worth" or "best time to sell a house in Denver", and the buyer who searches "realtor near me" or asks ChatGPT which neighborhoods have an easy commute downtown. Sorank writes the seller guides and neighborhood articles on your site, and tracks which agents and portals the AI assistants name in your market.

Your listings, your Google profile and your reviews stay in your hands; Sorank handles the articles around them, from $49 per month.

Generate SEO Article form in Sorank for a demo site: three keywords entered, each producing one article, and a custom H1 title typed for each keyword

Win the seller before the listing appointment

"How much is my house worth", "should I sell before buying another home", "what to fix before selling a house": an owner who last moved years ago starts with questions, not with an agent's name. Sorank finds these seller questions for each area you work, with their volume and difficulty, and you can add the ones you hear at every valuation. Each question becomes one article, under the title you choose, ending with your valuation request form.

Articles are written by the blog article generator.

Neighborhood guides that describe places, not people

"Living in Highland: parks, schools and commute times", "is Wash Park walkable": buyers want the neighborhood before the house. Sorank writes these guides from facts anyone can check, such as transit, schools by name, shops, parks and typical housing. You can attach instructions to each topic or set default ones, for example to describe amenities and never residents, which keeps the guides within fair housing rules (see below).

Topics, dates and instructions are set in the content calendar.

Know when ChatGPT names you, and when it names a portal

Ask ChatGPT for "the best realtor in Boise for first-time buyers" or Gemini for "a top listing agent in Plano" and the answer mixes agents with portals and review sites. Sorank asks your questions every month, highlights your name wherever it appears and shows the searches the model ran before answering, so your articles can match their wording.

Those searches are listed in AI query fanout.

How it works

Connect your agent or brokerage site

WordPress, Webflow, Wix or a real estate website platform that accepts a webhook: the connection takes a few minutes. Sorank reads your Search Console data to see which neighborhoods and seller questions already bring visits.

Name your areas and your side of the deal

Add the towns and neighborhoods you work, and say whether you mostly list homes, represent buyers or both. Sorank proposes seller questions, buyer questions and neighborhood topics for each area; you keep the ones that fit your business.

Publish around your listings

Articles go live on the days you choose, or wait as drafts for your broker to check. Each one links to your valuation form, your contact page or your listing search.

What is SEO for real estate agents?

SEO for real estate agents is the work that makes an agent or a brokerage appear when sellers and buyers research a move: in the Google local results, in the regular results and in the answers of AI assistants. Portals hold most searches for listings, so real estate SEO for an agent wins on what portals answer poorly: what a home is worth on a given street, when to sell, what a neighborhood is like to live in, and who knows the area.

Agents remain at the center of the sale. In the United States, the NAR 2025 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers found that 88% of buyers purchased through an agent or broker and 91% of sellers used an agent, while sellers had owned their home for a median of 11 years, an all-time high. An owner who last sold more than a decade ago has forgotten the process, and looks it up again before choosing who to call.

How do sellers and buyers choose an agent on Google and in AI assistants?

Sellers start with the price. "How much is my house worth" leads to automated estimates on the portals; the agent who explains what those estimates miss (condition, recent sales on the same street, the season) earns the valuation appointment. Buyers start with the area, then look for someone who knows it: in the same NAR survey, the quality of the neighborhood (59%) is the first neighborhood factor buyers cite.

AI assistants answer from aggregated sources. In our real estate AI citation study, measured on a panel where four answers in five were in French, the three most cited platforms hold 66% of the citations counted, and Leboncoin, a French classifieds site, is cited 5.6 times more than in our general ranking (0.84% against 0.15%): the models go where the listings are. The study adds that generic agency pages are rarely cited, while neighborhood-level pages on your own site stand a better chance. Perplexity's leading source in this sector is YouTube (2.03%), a reason to film the neighborhoods you write about (see our YouTube marketing guide).

How do fair housing rules apply to neighborhood content?

Describe the place, never the people who live there or who it would suit. In the United States, the fair housing regulation on discriminatory advertisements and statements makes it unlawful to publish any notice, statement or advertisement about the sale or rental of a dwelling that indicates a preference, limitation or discrimination because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin, including through words, photographs or illustrations. Other countries have their own anti-discrimination rules; check the ones that apply where you sell.

A sound neighborhood guide sticks to facts a reader can verify: parks, schools by name, transit lines and commute times, shops, lot sizes and housing styles. Phrases such as "perfect for young families", or any description of who lives in an area, stay out. Add that rule to the writing instructions in Sorank and keep draft mode on, so your broker reviews each guide before it is published.

Which keywords should a real estate agent target?

  • Seller value: "how much is my house worth", "home values in Highland". A valuation guide that ends with your request form.
  • Seller timing and process: "best time to sell a house in Denver", "how long does it take to sell a house", "sell or rent my house". Articles built on local facts; our guide to seasonal SEO helps schedule them.
  • Agent search: "realtor near me", "listing agent Plano". Your Google Business Profile and your about page answer them.
  • Neighborhoods: "living in Highland Denver", "Wash Park commute to downtown". Guides that describe the place.
  • Buyer process: "how does a home inspection work", "closing costs for buyers". Explainers that show how you work.

Our guide to local keyword research shows how to map these searches to your areas.

What does Sorank do, and what stays with the agent?

Sorank finds the seller, buyer and neighborhood questions of your areas, writes and publishes the articles with links to your valuation form and listing pages, checks every month whether ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini name you, and brings your Search Console data into one dashboard.

Sorank does not manage your Google Business Profile, your reviews or your listings. Google counts real estate agents among the individual practitioners who can have their own profile, with naming rules for an agent who represents a brand, as its business profile guidelines explain. That profile, the reviews you request after each closing (see how to get more Google reviews) and your listing feed stay with you and your brokerage. Related trades have their own pages: property management for agents who also manage rentals, real estate developers for the new projects you may co-sell, and mortgage brokers.

How much does SEO cost for a real estate agent?

Sorank charges per website, so a brokerage with one site pays one plan for all its agents. Essential costs $49 a month billed yearly or $99 month to month and publishes 20 articles; Pro ($129 yearly, $249 monthly) publishes 60 and adds Grok to the AI tracking; Business ($249 yearly, $499 monthly) publishes 120 (pricing details). The 3-day trial shows your first seller and neighborhood topics, and Sorank offers a 90-day results-or-refund guarantee. Agency retainers usually bundle ads, social media and the website with the content.

How long does SEO take for a real estate agent?

Google gives no fixed delay, and articles need several months to gather steady visits. Seller decisions are slow too: an owner may read your valuation guide in spring and list in the fall. Publish the value and timing articles first, then the neighborhood guides, and judge each area after three months on its Search Console impressions and clicks.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an SEO agency as a real estate agent?

Not for the content part. An agency suits an agent who wants ads, a new website and social media handled together. Sorank is software: it plans, writes and publishes the articles and tracks the AI answers, while you keep your listings, your profile and your reviews.

Does Sorank manage my listings, Google Business Profile or reviews?

No. Your listing feed, your Business Profile and your reviews stay with you and your brokerage. Sorank publishes articles on your website that link to your listings and valuation form, and tracks the AI answers.

Can Sorank write neighborhood guides that respect fair housing rules?

Yes, when you set the rule: add an instruction to describe amenities, schools by name, transit and housing, never residents or who an area suits, and keep drafts on for broker review. In the United States, fair housing rules cover all housing advertising; elsewhere, check the local anti-discrimination rules.

How can I appear when people ask ChatGPT for the best realtor in my city?

Keep your name, brokerage and areas consistent on your site, your profile and the portals, collect reviews after each closing, and publish neighborhood and seller guides on your own domain. Sorank then shows every month whether ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini name you and which sources they quote.

Which keywords should a real estate agent target first?

Start with seller questions about value and timing in the areas where you want listings, then the neighborhood guides buyers read. Searches like "realtor near me" depend first on your Google Business Profile.

How much does SEO cost for a real estate agent, and how long does it take?

Sorank starts at $49 a month per website on the annual plan, or $99 month to month, after a 3-day free trial. Count several months before articles bring steady visits, and judge each area after three months in Search Console.

How does Sorank compete with billion-dollar tools like Semrush?

We don't. Sorank isn't trying to be another Semrush or Ahrefs. Those tools are built for data, Sorank is built to do the work. Instead of more dashboards to check, it turns SEO and GEO insights into actions: articles written and published, backlinks earned, technical fixes and AI visibility tracking. Less complexity, more results.

How much does Sorank cost?

From $49/month per website on a yearly plan, with a 3-day free trial and a 90-day money-back guarantee (conditions apply). Every plan includes articles, AI visibility tracking and access to natural backlink acquisition; higher plans add more articles, more AI prompts tracked and more backlinks. No setup fees, no paying for seats you don't use.

You don't have time and a big budget?

You shouldn't need a full marketing team or expensive tools to grow. Sorank handles your entire SEO and AI visibility, so you save time and money.
