Buyers search for the paperwork as much as the metal. A mill test report ties a heat number to its chemistry and properties, and many buyers ask for it before ordering. Origin can be a requirement: in the United States, the Buy America rule for federal-aid highway projects, 23 CFR 635.410, requires all manufacturing processes for iron and steel products, coating included, to take place in the country; elsewhere, check the local rule.
